Last year I also took the Feb. exam, and I thought they would wait for my score, but I went into second review without my Feb. score. If you want them to review your application, I think you can email the office. Generally they will wait for the final score.vivio wrote:I sent my app in early December and took the Dec LSAT (>75%).
Now I registered for Feb LSAT (just wanna use up all three times of LSAT).
Will USC wait for my Feb LSAT before reviewing? Thank you very much!

Re: USC c/o 2019 Applicants Thread (2015-2016)
Complete last friday.
167, 3.65. Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech. 2.5 years work exp and M.S overseas in robotics/engineering. Mixed asian hisp-other.
Hope to get in and possibly a big scholarship. Any thoughts on whether this year they will raise their #s? I believe my LSAT was their 75th percentile from last year. Hopefully that helps.
Anyways, good luck to everyone who applies.

Ideally you want to be accepted to both ucla and usc early in the cycle, negotiate with both schools, and attend whichever that gives you more scholarship aid. While there are minor differences between ucla and usc, I don't think any of those considerations trump differences in merit-based aid, relative to tuition costs, since employment placement in la is similar.vivio wrote:kade wrote:Last year I also took the Feb. exam, and I thought they would wait for my score, but I went into second review without my Feb. score. I can't speak to ucla (you might have to post in ucla's applicants thread), but some positive aspects about usc for me are
- Your scholarship aid is guaranteed. If you get a paying gig during 1L or 2L summer and a law clerk position during the year, sc's fnancial aid office will not adjust to lower your original scholarship offer.
- Smaller class sizes.
- The proximity to dtla. Nice restaurants and bars if you need to take some time off from school stuff for a day or two. Also, it makes for an easier commute to law firms located here.
- The new director of career services is awesome btw. I feel like she will substantially help the quality of jobs in the new few years. (But I think CSO has been recently pushing for more school-funded jobs that are "supposed to help students gain practical experience that employers are looking for. . ." (Their words, not mine.) I think sc is following other law schools' example in funding these positions as well.
- You get to pick an elective during the spring semester of your 1L year. This is the first year that they are doing it. Business lit's enrollment this semester is around 85 people; con law, individual rights, around 60; and ethics, around 55.
- The First Generation Professionals Program is also in its first year. The new dean has also been supportive of this program, and the law school has been putting resources to this program. If any of you have ideas for programming and willing to lead them, you might send them in LOCIs and scholarship negotiation letters as one of the reasons for wanting to come to usc.
- A diverse student body
- The peer mentor program
Also, SC's travel assistance to help you visit the school may run out later in the cycle.
If any of the TLSers who are admitted to SC are visiting the school, you can also let me know by pm. I can give you a tour of the law school, the campus, and USC's campus bar.
Good luck!

Hi, thank you for the detailed information. I have been accepted to UCLA and hoping to get accepted to USC as well, as I lean slightly towards USC as of now.kade wrote:Ideally you want to be accepted to both ucla and usc early in the cycle, negotiate with both schools, and attend whichever that gives you more scholarship aid. I'm sure this has been answered many times in different posts, but can I ask you how exactly you negotiate (initially, and after their next offers) among two schools, UCLA an USC in particular? Feel free to PM me if you'd rather not share publicly. Thank you!

Re: USC c/o 2019 Applicants Thread (2015-2016)
I've been waitlisted at UCLA, but my numbers are pretty good (3.7/171), and I really hope USC will accept me. Because I got waitlisted there, am I out of luck for negotiations? Or, if I'm fortunate enough to get into some t14 schools, will those work as negotiations too?kade wrote:Ideally you want to be accepted to both ucla and usc early in the cycle, negotiate with both schools, and attend whichever that gives you more scholarship aid. Is it a bad sign that I'm still at complete (from 12/4)? I assume this means they haven't looked at my app yet, but I can't help but be nervous.

It took me (and at least some others) over 5 weeks to get from complete to first read. I wouldn't worry about it too much.ppt5 wrote:Is it a bad sign that I'm still at complete (from 12/4)? I assume this means they haven't looked at my app yet, but I can't help but be nervous.
