That's awesome! I think I've heard the same.

My small daily battle is [really just doing what I want and] wearing flats and not the 5" heels all the women in my office seem to wear. [I've noticed other women wearing more flats lately though!] I do love heels, but I save them for going out, dates, and other fun things. Or important meetings.
But if they wanna wear heels to work, more power to 'em - no need to judge. I'm more of a flats girl myself also, though!

I am one hundred percent planning on getting men's suits and men's dress shoes once I'm accepted into law school. I refuse to sacrifice my comfort for gendered fashion.
Added bonus - being able to switch out to something cooler in the summer, woohoo! :D

Of course! I wasn't judging and hope it didn't come through that way. :)
Not to me! :) But lurky boys might read it otherwise and think it's okay.

I'm lookin' at you, lurky boys.

I have an off-campus interview with Vanderbilt Saturday. All I know is that I'm meeting my interviewer at a coffee shop at 11am. I'm planning to wear black pants and flats and a nice sleeveless print blouse. (It's hot) It's not at all revealing in any way - just sleeveless. Sound OK?

Also, coffee shop meeting close to lunchtime - what's the etiquette? I have no idea if this is a lunch or just coffee. As a notoriously early person, I'm assuming I will show up first. Would it be rude to go ahead and order coffee?

I didn't realize you were one of us! Hi!

I think the outfit sounds totally fine - but I think I would wait to order coffee? Or maybe google coffee interview etiquette, since I have no idea what I'm talking about. Good luck!

Ok good! That's what I was leaning towards doing. I don't want him to feel obligated to pay for mine, plus I'm feeling awkward enough without worrying about coffee. This is my first LS interview. I was hoping that I would at least have a phone interview before having to do one in-person, but no other interest so far. :(

I was told that they admitted roughly 50/50 male/female for 2018, however their yield was lower with women and higher with men, thus the 60/40 class.
Oooh, very interesting - thanks for the update.
Thank you RBG! That is fascinating.....Seems like a reasonable explanation.
It actually seems a bit shallow to me... :? Considering it's not just a one year phenomenon, it's the type of thing that could be fixed by admitting more women, based on the knowledge that women have a lower yield. And it also begs the question of whether women are getting equal scholarships to men, since that's definitely a big factor in admitted students' decision.

Perhaps I'll ask if/when I get admitted!

Interviewed with Vandy this morning. :D

He asked why I wanted to go to LS, and the rest of the interview flowed naturally. It was basically just a friendly 40 min conversation. He told me five minutes in that he thought I would be a great fit at Vanderbilt, so I'm feeling really confident. (Just hoping that wasn't a standard interview comment, lol)

So glad it went well! :D Vandy's a great school, I'm looking forward to applying! Did you request the interview or did they?

I did. Interviewing is optional, but their website says they give priority to interviewees. I'm hoping to get a little bit of a boost by applying and interviewing early.

Thanks! I will now be upping my status checker refresh rate. It does say that priority will be accorded as soon as the interviewer submits his notes. I hope he's not a slacker.
