#2 I couldn't find any answer online, but do they let you apply as a 1L to Kellogg Business School in the same way Cornell lets you apply to Johnson? Would that be the 4 year MBA track then or the 3, since NU only takes the GMAT for their JD/MBA program?
Thanks
Thanks Mullens (and everybody else for the feedback). If you have any insight, what makes applying as a 1L to the JD/MBA program so challenging? (Assuming I have Kellogg level work experience, which I believe I do. I would apply straight this year but my significant 166 June LSAT underperformance made me focus the last few months on LSAT instead of GMAT prep)

For what it's worth (this is far from predictive and I may be misremembering), they were posted for-fips tedora wrote:jewkidontheblock wrote:Ugh, missed today's batch of on campus interview dates...
9/18-10/2 - 9/15 around noon
10/24 (alumni on-campus interviews) - 9/17 a little before noon
10/9-10/19 - 9/23 around noon
Really though, you just gotta keep refreshing that tab.

Re: Northwestern c/o 2019 Applicants
You will still have to take the GMAT and do very well on it to have any shot. To give you an idea, only one person in my year at NU was able to transfer into the program even though they aggressively solicited applications and a good number of people applied. Most of those people had Kellogg level work experience.Hornet2011 wrote:Mullens wrote:You can apply for the JD/MBA as a 1L but it is very very difficult to transfer into the program from the JD track.Hornet2011 wrote:Odd couple of questions:

Checking in! Taking the LSAT in a week and applying ED by the skin of my teeth.
The interviews are killing me though. They have posted them on weekdays in the past haven't they? Tues/wed/thurs are the only days I can do. I'm just stalking the interview schedule like no tomorrow.

Same boat. Decided yesterday that I'll apply RD instead due to my 3.0 GPA. Most others here agree that it'd be a waste to ED if I have no shot/need for the fully? Better to ED elsewhere and use other means to show my enthusiasm for NU?Alpal29 wrote:Checking in! Taking the LSAT in a week and applying ED by the skin of my teeth.

Exactly what I was thinking.urbanist11 wrote:This is probably a better question for people who have applied previously to NU. My hunch is that ED is quite competitive, and that they would extend ED admissions to people they are trying to draw away from other schools (eg near or above 75ths). That's just my guess though, and obviously it can't hurt to apply ED and see what happens.basedvulpes wrote:If you're EDing anywhere Northwestern is the place to do it.gunton224 wrote:Same boat. I assume you're talking about on campus interviews? There's no indication they're scheduling for days other than Mondays and Fridays, with the exception of one Saturday.Alpal29 wrote:Checking in! Taking the LSAT in a week and applying ED by the skin of my teeth.

If you're applying ED, they encourage you to get your app in by November 15 (though the deadline is December 1).
From their website-
Skype or off campus are probably your best bet, particularly if you're under the gun- just my two cents.Accordingly, in order to make sure your application is complete by the December 1 deadline, it would be in your best interest to submit your application by November 15, 2015 if you are applying through LSAC.

I totally agree, which is why I'm likely doing it.basedvulpes wrote:You guys should take a look at these blog posts:gunton224 wrote:Exactly what I was thinking.urbanist11 wrote:This is probably a better question for people who have applied previously to NU. The TL;DR is that applying to NU makes it 6x more likely that you'll be accepted than simply applying as a regular candidate, and even if you aren't accepted ED you'll be put back into to the RD pool and given another shot. Combined with their guaranteed full scholarship for applicants accepted ED there really isn't a downside to applying if NU is at the top of your list.
However, I don't know if it's a full ride. It's just a guaranteed highly subsidized ride. 50k a year, flat, which is 8k under annual tuition.
Annual cost hovers around 83k. http://chicagofinancialaid.northwestern ... html#JD115
By my back of the napkin math, it's 83 - 50 = 33. 33 x 3 = 99k of debt, not including interest. It's still substantial debt. Just not soul-crushing 249k debt like you would get at sticker. Correct me if my math is wrong or if I'm missing something.
It's still very attractive. Just want people to realize it's not exactly free.

They can have the 50k, I'm just hoping they'll have room in the Yellow Ribbon Program allocations for me.robertloblawslawblog wrote:I totally agree, which is why I'm likely doing it.basedvulpes wrote:You guys should take a look at these blog posts:gunton224 wrote:Exactly what I was thinking.urbanist11 wrote:This is probably a better question for people who have applied previously to NU.
