I just paid my second seat deposit. I thought this page wasn't going to open until May, so I was going to wait a bit, but guess there's no reason to now! I really thought they said you had to pay before you'd be invited. >.>

Just got the call that I was accepted. I am so estatic! Have to sit down to look over my options tonight but UNC has always been where my heart is.

Heads up, sounds like a wave of responses are coming out soon. Good luck to everyone!

Got an email saying I'm on hold so they can review more applicants and that I could be accepted or denied at anytime untill the 9th of April at which time if I don't hear anything I will be waitlisted. I don't know what to think really. Anyone get this and know what the chances are of getting accepted from this point?

For those that have gotten in, how do scholly's come in? By mail/email? Is it with the admissions letter or a few weeks later?

I also got the notification of being on hold; however, my email said I'll know by the 15 and did not say I'm guaranteed to be on the waitlist. Meh.

So a drop from #31 to #34 in the US News rankings... Not too bad, especially compared to rival Wake.

I was actually looking into both schools. I just recently settled on UNC but #47 Wake, ouch. That's a big drop.

Anyone tried to negotiate schollys this cycle? I know historically it's a no go, but JW.

If I could squeeze $5k more a year, I'd be ecstatic.

Also, where is everyone looking to live? Are the UNC graduate housing apartments okay?

Some people have had success in negotiating, but I think it only happens if a higher ranked school gave a LOT more than UNC did. Sucks for me, I got less from Wake than UNC, so I'm probably out of luck, but if you got a lot from somewhere else, there's no harm in trying! :D For housing, I don't know about the grad apartments, they seemed a little overpriced compared to the off-campus housing I checked out, but I'm not completely certain. From what I've seen, grad housing is ~800 for a 1bd, utilities included, although I could be wrong so don't take my word for it! If you're interested in cheap off-campus housing, a lot of apartment complexes are on a UNC bus line, and run between 650-800 for a 2 bedroom. I've found a place for $710/m with a utilities package (~425/person all together) on the busline, and just need a roommate now! >.>

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
