I have to say, I'm incredibly impressed with Bama's treatment of accepted students. They really know how to court you.

That's been my experience as well... no one else has come close, thus far.

I agree 100%, thats actually a reason they are my #1... still waiting to hear back from a more affordable option in-state, but they really make you feel great about yourself lol!

If your out of state scholly is more than instate tuition and you acquire residency it just becomes a full tuition scholly, you don't get to keep the extra, but unlike some places it isn't contingent on keeping OOS!

Getting in-state tuition in Alabama is pretty difficult. You have to prove that you are in Alabama for a reason other than attending school.

I haven't applied personally, so I don't want to give anyone false hope and I wouldn't *count* on it.. But I wouldn't say it's "pretty difficult." Some states guarantee that you can't change your residency after you begin school unless there are truly extraordinary circumstances.

Alabama has a more holistic policy. You do have to "prove" that you are in Alabama for a reason other than attending school, but they take a lot of things into consideration. Ties to Alabama, if you've registered your car/gotten an AL driver's license, if you own property/went to HS in the state, if you paid taxes in AL, if you've relinquished ties to your former state.... And you get to write an essay arguing your case.

I'm truly not sure how easy or not it is, I know many people who established in-state residency for UG, but.. there policy seems much easier than a lot of other places I looked at.

Yeah, I got a copy of the law review as well, but only after 3 telephone calls to discuss scholarship and travel stipend offers, a sweet welcome package, and ye olde Alabama Law T-Shirt. So the Law Review just felt like a sort of neat after thought to me. As I've said before, I've been incredibly impressed with the way Bama has treated me.

I submitted around 1/25 and was UR on 2/05, and got a status update on 2/11, still just Under Review. They called me just to chat on 2/11 but I was at my nannying job and couldn't talk for very long.

Lol I don't know if I should call back. It was the basic, "We're here to be a resource for you, is this a good time?" *Holding a baby and trying to make mac and cheese with one hand and still holding the phone* "Not really but thanks so much for calling!" Them-"Laugh, well feel free to call back with any questions, we're here to help you." *Hang up, pray that being scattered won't affect my app and that the resource phone call isn't a sly way to get a mini-interview to make sure that looking good on paper hasn't stopped you from developing the social skills needed to not sound like a crazy person on the phone.*

I waited three weeks to go complete and when I called they said they were just behind, so I would say yes it seems it takes a while to go complete/UR.

I submitted on 1/08. It was received on 1/15 and completed on 1/17. I got the call from Becca exactly one month after completion. I hope you hear something soon. Good luck.

I really want a T-shirt! Did you get it with the admissions package? I got my package yesterday in a UPS box and it was pretty big, so just KNEW there was a tshirt... Wrong

I actually got the T-Shirt before I received my acceptance package. It was sent in a small envelope with a congratulatory letter which advised that my full welcome package would be arriving shortly.
