Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
Checking in! I'm a little disappointed that Chicago is not as supportive of a separate DS, since my PS barely mentions my diversity but I think it's important. I started wondering if I could expand that section without losing the general flow of the essay, and then I realized that I should probably sleep instead.

So Chicago discourages diversity statements?

I definitely submitted a DS and a Why Chicago statement. I don't care so much what they want because the important thing is what I think they need to know about me. If they said DO NOT SUBMIT A DS then I wouldn't do it but otherwise if you think it is something they need to know then send it in.midnight_circus wrote:Checking in! I'm not saying this won't work out, but it's certainly an interesting attitude.The-Specs wrote:I definitely submitted a DS and a Why Chicago statement. Maybe that sounded stronger than I intended it to. I care what they want and I made sure to give them everything they asked for but if they don't prohibit an essay, even if the don't ask for it, then I am more concerned with what I feel they need to know about me.elterrible78 wrote:I'm not saying this won't work out, but it's certainly an interesting attitude.The-Specs wrote:I definitely submitted a DS and a Why Chicago statement. That being said, I havn't been accepted yet (maybe never) so we will see if it works out.

Re: Chicago c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014)
I think that for some people, there is some really important info that will come through in a diversity essay and so it's important that you include that somehow. I went the route of reconfiguring my personal statement with the diversity statement information scattered throughout. I know that this won't help with your anxiety but I would challenge an applicant to follow the format established by the school because the format and how one decides to convey information is part of the evaluation process...chicago seems particularly anal about this type of thing.The-Specs wrote:Maybe that sounded stronger than I intended it to. Pretty much that they're considering you for admission. It's good news, there's no way to put a negative spin on it that I can think of. Congrats!JDeezy wrote:Splitter ED applicant... interview request today. what does this mean????

Maybe I'm being overly paranoid (which isn't a stretch), but my application in the Online status check has under the "Fees" section class deposit. Is this normal? Or is it some sign from the gods?
