I'd lean toward it not being worth it, would definitely call first and say "Hey I'm going to be in the area on day X, would I be able to meet with someone?" If they react well, book it, if not, no costs incurred.

The admissions dept is more than 2 people. It sounds like one just left, but that still leaves 3 not counting KP, who I think is also still technically part of admissions.

Also, I'd be very surprised if you wouldn't be able to meet with someone if you showed up. In the last couple weeks I've seen at least 2 waitlisted students heading to meetings with admissions staff.

Where 2014 is on point, though, is that if there are no spots there are no spots. Seems like a lot of expense without a huge chance of return.

Meh, I got the interest call Monday (though I've been on vacation out of cell coverage for the last week, so I just listened to the message today), and my stats definitely aren't in that range.
