Hope this post helps relieve some of the financial aid anxiety on the thread.

Is your first name not dave?... who went to UCLA... with a 4.0... and got into SLS, like all of 200 other people at present? Pretty sure I could out you based on the FB group + first name of dave alone, but that would be in poor taste.
Thanks for the update though, super good to hear

So for travel subsidy we don't need to do anything before ASW other than keep receipts right?

Wanted to wait until I got my official email before posting in here. Didn't want to jinx it. MotM, I'm also looking at the JD/MA in Economics program. I'm not sure I want to do it yet, but it definitely caught my eye.

You got your offer? Nice!! Was your application fairly straightforward?

I wonder how difficult it is to get into these programs after admittance into the JD program.

No no no. Sorry false alarm. I was referring to the post above about them starting the review process this week.

I found this through google (not bing):
http://gap.stanford.edu/5-1.html ... does quite say how easy or hard it is, but it seems to bypass the external application process and as such I'm sure it will be easier (especially if you have taken a course or two in the subject at stanford and enjoyed it/done well)

haha! MoTM, you never fail to amuse brother.
I meant to say I ommitted some personal information from the email itself. Because, as you might imagine, that was not the email in it's entirety.

Nope, no housing email! ... did you get that mail packet about housing a week or so ago?
I also haven't gotten any of those dinner meet-up emails...
Maybe this is a sign

I need couples housing, and it seems hard to justify living in Munger over Escondido Village. The price difference is just huge.
is housing guarenteed at both?
and its fine if the couple is not a fiance/wife or associated with Stanford, right? Is the housing only for the school year or year around? Not sure where my girlfriend would live over the summer haha

For some reason I'm 100% set on living in Gropius (the shitties dorms at HLS, and as far as I can tell they're much shittier than anything at SLS) if I go to HLS and almost 100% set on living in Munger if I go to SLS. I think Munger gets to the point where it's so nice I stop caring about the money.
Future me will probably hate present me.

And if we all choose SLS, we have 3/4 roommates for a quad in munger.

ManOfTheMinute wrote:So is anyone considering a joint degree? I'm thinking an MA in Economics might be cool...
I am strongly thinking about the MS in bioengineering or MS&E. At no extra cost and no extra time, it sounds like a deal to me. I heard from some current students that getting in to the joint degree programs is more a matter of paperwork than anything.
Also, definitely bringing a car and definitely living in Munger, cost be damned! What's another $20K when I'm about to go in the hole a solid $150K at least?!?
