I'm not sure myself, but I think someone might have asked about this earlier in the thread...togepi wrote:Does anyone know if Bama has to admit a certain percentage of in-staters?
That was probably me. I'm in-state and was just curious. I heard someone mention another public law school a while ago and the fact that they had to have a certain number of residents to out of staters.lookingin wrote:I'm not sure myself, but I think someone might have asked about this earlier in the thread...togepi wrote:Does anyone know if Bama has to admit a certain percentage of in-staters?
TBH, Alabama was one of my top choices but they are taking so long now to get back to me (maybe because they're trying to get a lot of in-staters or high LSATs first?) that it's getting a little annoying. They're coming across really uppity...

164s don't typically get scholarships. Frankly, most don't even get in.kayleighcheyenne wrote:Still no update on scholarship information... But I got a UA Law t-shirt in the mail today
Alabama's median is 163. They're being more hesitant this year (rightfully), but the 164's will get in eventually. I know it's unfortunate to wait, but just saying "164s... don't even get in" is just conjecture.2012Lsatscore wrote:164s don't typically get scholarships. Um, no. If you go to Bama's website you will see that their medians are 165/3.83.cwid1391 wrote:Alabama's median is 163. As a 164 myself, I completely agree. Last year I was waitlisted and I doubt I'll make the cut this year. I'm just hoping to flood them with recs and get on the radar.2012Lsatscore wrote:164s don't typically get scholarships. It's been several years since I've lived in T-town myself and now I'm kind of overwhelmed by the prospect of having to relearn it, esp. the campus and surrounding areas. My sister was looking at an apartment in the Pink House downtown a while ago and though she didn't take it, I fell in love with it. I'm preemptively sad because there probably won't be anything available there when I am ready to move. I really, really loved the old-house charm to it. Do you know of anything else that is kind of similar to that? I really don't think I'm going to be interested in the typical apartment.ALgooner wrote:Hey guys, if any of you have questions about living in Tuscaloosa, let me know! Also, they have whittled their class size down considerably the last few years. How low can they go?michaelm55 wrote:Alabama will not be able to be as picky as previous years (i.e. last year, the year before that...). Though not many 164's typically get in (GPA being the deciding factor), the majority of 165's typically do (see LSN). It would appear they are attempting to round out a class similar to last year's... and they won't. 164's and 165's will get more scholarship from comparable schools and admitted to better institutions than in previous years. They can't afford to act as if conditions haven't changed... even if they do. Perhaps us 164's won't get in this year, but UA will suffer for it more than they would have in previous years: their medians will go down (possibly ranking... etc.) because regular admit - acceptance's can now afford to be admit - "oh wait I got into T14!"'s.

I've been complete for a few months as well. No one has called me yet.lookingin wrote:Recently got a call thanking me for my patience (I submitted my app a few months ago)... they said to please continue being patient as they keep making decisions. The voicemail didn't make it sound like I needed to give anyone a call back so I think it was just an update, but has anyone else gotten a call like this? Was it meant to just be a reassurance that I haven't been forgotten?
Congrats on UVA! Did you stay on the waitlist until rejected or did you withdraw. I think I am going to ride it until the bitter end and I'm just hoping it was the latter.harge008 wrote:As a 164 myself, I completely agree.
