This may be too broad for this thread, but I really prefer not having a status checker and just getting emails. One less thing for me to compulsively refresh. At least this way I can put it a bit more out of my mind.JayJones78 wrote:Got it. My first comment would probably be use the status checker pagenba101790 wrote:Got it. Hey! Sorry it took me so long to reply.Mdenis1 wrote:
Is it THAT bad? I don't have a car at the moment and I really don't feel like buying one for law school. I'm used to live in cities where public transportation is really great and I like it that way. Ever since I plan on having no social life at least in my first semester... if you get an appartment close to school, is it doable to do it without a car? Do they have buses over there?
It's doable, for sure. I live across the street in campus housing and like others have said, there are grocery stores, banks, restaurants, etc. well within walking distance. I guess for me it's that I'm used to the freedom and independence public transportation provides. I literally do not leave this small area and I feel a bit suffocated by the same things over and over. Like I said, my friends are great and we get out from time to time, but I haven't really been able to do anything on my own. They do have zipcars nearby, if you're willing to pay. Obviously, law school is hard, and takes up a ton of your time. But I still miss being able to do something on my own, away from campus, when I DO have the time. Just a thought.

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
To clarify, 25/year, with 5/year need based and there are apparently rumors flying around that we lose that next year. Also, at first they offered me 15/year, and when I was deciding with BC and got into Hastings I emailed them and they upped my scholarship. Not a lot of people have had luck with that, though, I'm one of the few I've heard of here that got more money out of UCI. They definitely give more to high LSATs than high GPAs.gitguy wrote:Definitely jealous.teiswei wrote:Her* LSN says $90K... From my experience, the scholly is not lsat heavy. I'm actually curious how they determine scholarships now! If anyone wants more details on my experience with numbers vs scholly feel free to pm me!

Mine is setup to auto refresh all my (20 some) every hour. It can also send auto emails and text msgs whenever there's a change with any of your apps. I still manually check the apps I care most about but overall it's a great little computer app. Works on PC and Mac.

Why not leave it run for 10 hours a day? It's not doing anything accept the hourly check on your appswannabelawstudent wrote:Right...but I work a full time job and cant install anything on my work comp and I'm not gonna leave my home computer going for 10 hours a day. Ideally I just wanted it because instead of checking 15 sites every hour at work I could just get a notification when something changed.

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Is it just for me, or is UCI taking a long time this cycle? I applied in November and I have not heard a thing.
I have a 3.5/165, In-State Californian, and I currently attend UCSD. (Non-URM btw)
Should I be super worried, or is the school simply dealing with a small app pool?

Anyone here has thoughts about UCI and biglaw in CA? How attainable is it in your opinion?

Re: UC Irvine c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I applied 1/3. Haven't heard since. I guess that isn't too bad since others have applied in November. I really wish they had a status checker, it would make me feel better to actually see where my app is and know they have it rather than waiting on an email. With that said, i think its safe to say with a 3.5/165, you should be getting an acceptance at UCI I can't find any information on there medians, but I would assume they are going to work hard to keep it at around 165.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
