I did not write a programmatic contribution essay. I left that section blank and my PS was a general one that I sent to everyone.
What are your numbers if it's not too personnal?

Hey
I'm international and thus have an international phone number, so I probably won't receive a call. For the accepted applicants: When you got calls, was it followed up that day with a confirmation email?
Since UCLA doesn't have a status checker I have no way of knowing!
Submitted 11/5 complete 11/6.
167, 3.75

Yes if you check a couple of pages back you'll see another international applicant. He got an email.poohbear26602 wrote:Hey

169/3.6; submitted 11/15, complete 11/20. ED.
I'm guessing the earliest will be ~10 business days from going complete, so around Dec. 5. I'm not sure if they usually make calls on Mondays though, so it might be the week after.

168/3.97, submitted 11/5, complete 11/9. Still no word from UCLA. I'd say you're going to hear sometime between mid December and mid January. The flood of apps after the October LSAT scores were released is why it will take longer for us than it did for those who submitted in September. Hopefully we'll hear great news sooner than later!harveyfan wrote:submitted 11/19, complete 11/20.

Call from Dean Schwartz on 11/19. He told me I'd gotten a 52.5k scholarship and to look out for info in the mail. He also mentioned that they offer travel stipends if I was interested in visiting, but didn't offer much more info than that. Acceptance packet came in the mail today.
Numbers - 159/167, 3.98
EDIT: I did submit a programmatic contribution essay.
Is that a 52.k annual scholarship or about 17k each year?

Hope everyone had a great Turkey day! Got a call from the UCLA dean this past Monday and in at UCLA but no mention of scholarship money. Got the the official letter Wednesday but no mention there either. Does this mean that there will be no offer?

No, not necessarily. Same thing happened to me and I received a letter detailing scholarship info the following week. Did your scholly info come in your acceptance packet with the view book and letter? Our numbers are similar and packet came without any money info. I'm hoping something's coming, or maybe I can negotiate. Thanks!bobr wrote:No, not necessarily. Same thing happened to me and I received a letter detailing scholarship info the following week. Nope. 1) Phone call 2) About one week later I received the big envelope containing different material 3) A following week later I received an envelope containing one page with the scholarship info. Good luck!gate08 wrote:Did your scholly info come in your acceptance packet with the view book and letter? Our numbers are similar and packet came without any money info. This might be for others to answer, but when checking LSN why do many w/ better numbers than myself (3.7x, 171) have no offer (assuming the lsn individual did not not just list it)?

Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
For those who have been admitted, were your personal statements significantly whittled down from what you submitted to other schools or did you use Garamond 12 pt., use tiny margins, run slightly over 2 pages, use 11 pt font anyways, etc. All of those "tricks" have been mentioned previously in this thread but I am wondering if those who employed them got in anyways
I don't want to appear lazy or like I'm trying to pull one over if I use Garamond and .6 inch margins all around.
Tomorrow's project is finishing my UCLA app -- programmatic contribution statement, Epstein essay, and possibly whittling down my personal statement (which is exactly 2 pages in 11 pt. Times New Roman). I'm hoping you folks will tell me it's ok to skip the last one on that list!

Thanks, Regulus! I instantly trust anyone with a cat in their avatar. ; )
Mind sharing your numbers?
Any more admits care to pipe in and further reassure me that manipulating my regular personal statement will be okay for UCLA? : )

I was accepted with 11 point font. Take from that what you will.

My personal statement was 32 words over the two page limit using 11 pt. Times New Roman (w/ normal margins) and I was admitted.

Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Alright, I've got another question for you folks. For those who applied to the Epstein Public Service program, did you list different references on the application than the individuals who wrote your LORs? They don't specify that you should and frankly those would be my best references, but I'm wondering if they would rather someone different...
Edit: answered my own question, sorta (though I am still curious what others did). They say "at least two" so I listed the two whose LORs I submitted first and then provide two others in case they really want someone different. I wonder if they really call your recommenders if they are considering you for the Epstein program?
