That's just awesome..... was that need based?

It just says Dean's Scholarship. No mention of whether it was merit or need based. I have a very low income, so it could have been either, or a combination if the two.

I am just curious because someone said earlier NYU had no merit aid left (which is always a lie from any school) but I'm pretty sure a Dean's is a merit scholarship. That means they must have really needed your LSAT as well as Irish's.

Although merit-aid will likely be available again as Harvard's WL is moving, and those who get into Harvard probably at least have some money here at NYU.

Need-based = myth

Just negotiate. There is a reason they picked you guys off the waitlist. They need your particular numbers/characteristics/something in order to get the class how they want it.

Got the NYU package in the mail. It is a bit underwhelming as there was not even a letter with it, nor really any directions of what to do next, etc.

Congrats! They do seem to be pulling a lot from the WL. Did you get an interest call first, or just a call saying you're in?

An interest call asking if I'm still interested and if there's anything getting in the way of accepting the offer of admission. I was super enthusiastic so hopefully I'll hear back soon.

deans scholarship is not necessarily need-based, you need to submit the need access form to get any consideration for a scholarship at NYU

admit packet came two days later, letter of acceptance came the third postal day.

I'm in! I got my packet on Monday and the actual letter on Tuesday. They also gave me a call on Tuesday! I'm so excited!

Now to decide between Penn and NYU. Will lose $500 (seat deposit), $1700 (what I have already paid for my apartment), and a sense of security.

If interested in PI/gov't, then NYU.
If biglaw, it's a tie and go by other factors (geography, environment, etc).
Also, wait to see if you get any $$ from NYU.
