Exact same. Do you have a preference between the 3? Because everything I've read, and everyone I've talked said LUC is easily the best of the 3.checkster wrote:Been in review since 1/13...in at Loyola and DePaul...wtf?

Re: Chicago-Kent Class of 2015 (2011-2012 Cycle)
I've visited all of them. Loved LUC. Easily the place I'd like to spend 3 years. DePaul was ok, but I just got my scholly info from there, and it isn't enough to consider attending. Kent was ok, but it feels like a business. Its very modern, very nice, but just seemed very impersonal. I don't really know how to describe it, and I obviously know this isn't why you should choose a school, but it just didn't feel good for me. But hey, I'm sure some people love it.
If money wasn't a factor, I'd choose LUC out of these three.

Exact same boat. I got the same DePaul scholly you did.
Let me know how the rest of your cycle turn out, and how the scholarship stuff works out.

LUC and Kent are very comparable as far as reputation in Chicago goes. I have been in touch with law firm partners in a Chicago labor firm who say that Kent has a far better reputation. Side note: Neither attended LUC or Kent so no bias seems to exist. I do not believe there are any statistics that "easily" favor either school as far as reputation or education.. If you have any articles or statistics that do this please post links because I am in the same boat as you as far as Chicago law schools go.rma wrote: checkster wrote:

I'm going off what law students in Chicago have told me. Apparently the NU transfer class for example had 5 LUC kids, compared to 2 from Kent and 1 from DePaul. Take that for what you will.Beeg12 wrote:LUC and Kent are very comparable as far as reputation in Chicago goes. Also, Loyola consistently plays among the Top 50 schools for biglaw, always around 10-12%. While this still isn't great, it's not bad for a T2 school. And reading the previous years' data, LUC always seems to place more in biglaw than Kent.

LUC and Kent are probably comparable, and if money weren't an issue I'd have already submitted my deposit to LUC. But since I'd like to hear from Kent and what scholarships they can offer, I'm waiting.

Around Thanksgiving. Went complete 12/2, 12/19 then final review the day before I got a decision.roz77 wrote:When did you submit your application?Andrews989 wrote:In at kent today via status checker! How long does it typically take for scholarship info?

Has anyone tried to negotiate a scholarship? Anyone planning on it?

Definitely planning on it. At this point I am still waiting to hear from peer schools since all I have to negotiate with are higher scholarships from lower ranked schools. My brother had no luck negotiating when he attended, but that was in 2006 when employment statistics were way up along with number of qualified applicants, so hopefully they are willing to dig deeper.Bradlo722 wrote:Has anyone tried to negotiate a scholarship? I will be definitely hoping they can dig deep too.

I applied in early January and I don't think I've received a status checker yet?! Should I be worried?

I wouldn't be worried. I got my acceptance packet from them before I got a status checker. And even then, I had to email them to ask for my login.givemea170 wrote:I applied in early January and I don't think I've received a status checker yet?! Should I be worried?

I dug through my email and found the email they sent saying that they would contact me back with further information within a week and I received no email past that point so I emailed them again. They seem a little... spacey!dejeanhc wrote:I wouldn't be worried. I got my acceptance packet from them before I got a status checker. Status checker date changed yesterday (2/14)! Any idea on how long until I have a decision? Previous date was complete at 1/13.

Crunch time. They've probably already made the majority of the decisions, now they have to be more nit-picky with their decisions.

Or maybe they are slowing down because more applications are being submitted. According to the "Law School Confidential" book only 25% apply early.cutecarmel wrote:Crunch time. They've probably already made the majority of the decisions, now they have to be more nit-picky with their decisions.

Either way, CPM is waiting because its late in the cycle. I think I stayed under review for a while. Then I stopped checking in on it and one day I got a surprise acceptance in my email.artorres wrote:Or maybe they are slowing down because more applications are being submitted.
