Re: Brooklyn Law School C/O 2015
Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked before. I recently got accepted into the BK Law part time program and received my BLS Connect login information a couple of days ago. Does anyone know if BK Law gives our merit scholarships to their part time students? And if so, has anyone received that information yet?

Hey. What does it mean if I was in review on 1/10 and just got on review again 2/16.

I've heard that BLS's renewal stips are pretty tough, but when I looked on their website, it seemed to say that scholarship recipients must be in the top 80% at the end of each year. That actually seems much more lenient than many schools that require top 40%, top half, etc. Am I missing something?
I remember their stipulations being in the top 40%, but this link seems to confirm your statement.
Correct me if i am wrong,
top 80% = best 240 of 300 students?

That's what I came across on the website. Maybe it's a new policy? It also seems pretty forgiving as far as getting your scholarship reinstated if you fall below the required standing.lawhaus wrote:http://www.brooklaw.edu/Admissions/fina ... Wow, I didn't notice that either. I just assumed BLS scholarships were like top 50% or top 40%, then a sliding scale where they take away portions as your rank diminishes. Knowing it's top 80% definitely makes BLS a more attractive option for me.

Re: Brooklyn Law School C/O 2015
Scholarships are renewed for those who stay in the top 80%, and you can get it back if you lose it. Also, if you finish really high, they will upgrade your scholarship. However, they did say that they basically can change that if they have too many people enter with scholarships and they cannot afford to renew 80%... seemed a little deliberately vague, but whatever. I doubt they would mess with that too much. They are already being sued for releasing misleading or inaccurate career statistics, I don't think they would open themselves up to that much more criticism, but who knows.
My scholarship offer is pretty substantial (for my GPA, especially), so I very well may end up here. But yeah, as I understand it, they must have changed their policies. I had read on the TLS profile that they were really strict with scholarship renewal, but they aren't, as it turns out. At least not anymore.

After your BLS connect login, give it three - five business days. They will notify you (via email, then later on by postal mail) of any merit aid and you can look for it by navigating to the financial aid package page inside the BLS connect page.Eve0000 wrote:Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked before. This applies to PT/FT as well.

Re: Brooklyn Law School C/O 2015
Just got my scholarship offer yesterday, 26k a year as long as I stay in the top 80%, not bad. Anyone know how likely BLS is to negotiate on merit aid? BLS is my safety, and I anticipate acceptances/aid from higher ranked schools. It would take close to full tuition for me to go there, as much as I really do like Brooklyn Law School, and I know a lot of people in Brooklyn/Queens. Is it a faux pas for me to explicitly request full tuition in my negotiation letter? It is my goal, and almost a necessity, but I dont want to come across as extremely unclassy lol

Re: Brooklyn Law School C/O 2015
just got admitted on friday (the 17th), I was surprised because my status did not say complete until around 2/4 or 2/5, so it was a quick response. sorry that its been mentioned before, but i thought someone said that it takes a few days after they send your BLS login info in order to see if any scholarship money was offered..does anyone else know if this is true/has experienced this?...also, for those who did receive $, would any of you mind sharing your stats?

I was admitted on the 11th; I think scholarship information was available on the 14th (the Tuesday following the Friday acceptance). I had a 2.81 and a 167, and my file was not labeled complete until February 3rd, and I was offered 26,100 per year. It is renewable as long as I stay in top 80% of class.hellolawschoolitsmee wrote:just got admitted on friday (the 17th), I was surprised because my status did not say complete until around 2/4 or 2/5, so it was a quick response. sorry that its been mentioned before, but i thought someone said that it takes a few days after they send your BLS login info in order to see if any scholarship money was offered..does anyone else know if this is true/has experienced this?...also, for those who did receive $, would any of you mind sharing your stats?

Think I'll be withdrawing from BLS soon ...
I was admitted, but I was told I did not qualify for any merit scholarships. I'd love to be there, but Brooklyn tuition is kind of ridiculous, and there's no way I can justify paying full price.

So, I went complete on 1/6 (I believe), then again on 1/24 and nothing since. I just sent a "Why Bklyn" statement this evening... wish me luck!

My current status date has changed from 2/13 to 2/15 and now to 2/22. Why are they reviewing my file so much?

Looks like they're giving out a lot of 26k's a year. I was given the same offer yesterday. I'm waiting on Dozo and Fordham(WL'd) but Brooklyn appears to be really generous will scholarships so it's a tough decision!
