I'm under review... again. I hope that this time I'll stay under review and hopefully it means that you all will see some movement!

No movement at all..... I've received several acceptances and am under review at a couple of other places, but with UNC hanging out there, it's really hard to weigh my options.

I'm assuming all the Chancellors' Scholarships have been given out since the official scholarship weekend is this coming weekend, but I still haven't seen any mention of it on this forum or LSN. Has anyone heard whether they've been given out?

I'd agree with your assumption, but I also think it's really weird that nobody on here or LSN has mentioned it. Seems odd.

I just called the admissions office and they told me the Chancellor's Scholarships have been awarded and the recipients have been notified. Apparently the bulk of UNC's applicants this year have no interest in TLS/LSN. It makes it awfully difficult to compare yourself to the competition or draw any conclusions about your own admission/scholarship chances when the top candidates don't participate in the discussion.

Did they say anything about when the next round of admits and smaller scholarships would go out?

This. I thought my numbers looked decent compared to LSN, but now I don't really have a solid metric as to where I stand relative to UNC's incoming class.BenPH wrote:I just called the admissions office and they told me the Chancellor's Scholarships have been awarded and the recipients have been notified. Thanks for calling. I was hanging on to a shred of hope, so it's good to hear a definitive answer.BenPH wrote:I just called the admissions office and they told me the Chancellor's Scholarships have been awarded and the recipients have been notified. Yup. I guess I shouldn't whine too much because my numbers match up well against previous cycles and I do have the residency boost, but every day that goes by without a decision is just plain agonizing.

That's a shame. There was such a community on here last year. We had drama and everything!BenPH wrote:Apparently the bulk of UNC's applicants this year have no interest in TLS/LSN.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I don't feel like I can even put my options in order without hearing from UNC (my top choice). It is a little disconcerting. I keep telling myself that the admissions process is in no way a reflection of any other department (e.g., career services, etc.); however, I'm beginning to have my doubts. I woke up thinking I'd hear something today... and I'll do the same tomorrow... and the next day...Dabearsss wrote:Man I hope UNC makes some moves soon. Duke's spat of dings and waitlists today severely limits options for me. Guess I'm down to my last strike.

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Late to the game here, but I learned of my acceptance via email on 12.22.2011. I sent in my application along with residency info (in-state) on 12.15.2011. Haven't heard any scholarship news yet, probably won't for a couple more weeks.
I dropped off my residency form in person on 12/15 and the person I spoke with at the admissions office told me they were trying to get decisions out much quicker than they did last year, and that certainly was the case for me. It was very surprising to hear back so quickly.
Too bad that wasn't the case for everyone. Anyway, good luck to all those still waiting.
And remember: GO PACK!

Re: UNC c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was told like 2-3 weeks ago that I was one of 20 or so finalists for the Chancellor Scholarships, and that half of the candidates would be chosen, based on an interview on that special weekend. Sadly I couldn't go to the weekend and so I hope that the online/phone interview people like me will still have a chance, when they get to dealing with us after the weekend...

Haha, I just went and read a chunk of last year's forum, trying to figure out when scholarship info went out, whether they negotiate, etc. What a mess. Looks like the admissions office ran out of time and straight up waitlisted everybody that was left. The whole forum broke down into a shouting match. It sounds like they are making an effort to avoid a repeat of that this year.
YouDontKnowMe: what sold you on UNC? I feel like I am going to end up choosing between UNC and Wake and it seems like you could have some valuable input.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
