Dean Shively relayed earlier that they'd begin sending out decision on January 12th, and every Thursday after that. We shouldn't have to wait too much longer!

Happy holidays! Just to alleviate any ongoing anxiety I thought I'd let you know where we are with things. We are planning to release another set of admission offers this week - about 140 offers, probably tomorrow. After that our plan is to release decisions every Thursday beginning January 12. Rest assured we are busy reviewing files and managing the process as efficiently as possible. I hope that by sharing our plans with you, we'll be able to reduce the stress around this particular question.

All of Wake Forest University will be closed next week for the winter holidays, but we'll return January 3, 2012. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly and I'll respond as I am able but no later than the first week of January. We've tried to anticipate questions in our correspondence. Any scholarship offers are outlined in initial admission offers both via email and in the paper letter that follows. We'll be sending out admission packets with additional information early in the new year.

Congratulations to those who've received positive decisions. To all of our other applicants I appreciate your patience with this process. We recognize that it is stressful for you and strive to give every application an appropriate level of consideration. Thoughtful and deliberate decisions serve us all best.

A decent amount of the 2Ls got job offers from OCI in the fall. But most people get their jobs through their own efforts. Last summer, most of the 1Ls worked somewhere, did research for a professor, or studied abroad.

The 1L workload is difficult, but it is manageable. First semester, you'll have Contracts I, Civil Procedure I, Criminal Law (each meeting 3 days a week), and Torts (meeting 4 days a week. You'll also have Legal Writing and Research I, which meets 4 days a week for about 2/3 of the semester. For your substantive classes, you'll receive about 15-20 pages of reading for each day the class meets (sometimes less, sometimes more). The first few weeks are hard because it's so new and it takes a lot longer to do the reading. The other hard time, as far as workload, is when an assignment is due for Legal Writing. It is graded at Wake, so people put a lot of effort into it (which I recommend since it's one of the most useful classes as far as what you'll do at work during the summer). Legal Writing ends in early November, so that gives you extra time to relax and study for finals.

I'm not sure what you mean by "electronic view book?"

We have an internal website that has everyone's pictures (something you do the first day of orientation) and e-mails. Other than what is on the regular website (via the Career Services page) and what we get told at presentations and in e-mails, we don't get much employment data. The curriculum is all on the law school website as well for anyone to look at.

So, people visiting during the Scholars Days, March 2 or 9? Or just doing the normal admitted student days March 23, 30 or April 14?

Any current students have advice either way? If it's not a big difference I might just go on the 30th, since that's during my Spring Break.
