Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Question since I just noticed this - when you guys go to "Report Status" in LSAC (under apply), in the top right corner it says "My Status."
Mine says:
7 requests received
10 reports sent
The 7 makes sense since I applied to exactly 7 schools, but why would it send 10 reports? Who else is getting these reports lol? Anyone else have odd discrepancy there? I'm just curious.

Haha, I can live with being the evil stewie.. And no it didn't. I was sure to check because for all my other apps I was assuming it filled in automatically based on my previous answer, and it didn't autofill one so it got sent blank. I'm hoping they'll be able to figure out from my name, but I'm not sure what Yale's plan is. Shall I send an email to the school/lsac?MumofCad wrote:It didn't have the standard demo question? Just like that freaky episode last season...
AS for the Stewie thing, my son has asked several times if we can go see "that movie" because he's never seen it before. He's not getting the idea of an adult cartoon. He said, "Babies aren't mean EVER mom. I'm sure it would be ok for me." Thanks avatar Stewies.

I have the same discrepancy, sometimes i sends a report to a school twice if there was an update or something? I know for me once my last reference letter came in they sent updated reports so that might account for it?MumofCad wrote:Question since I just noticed this - when you guys go to "Report Status" in LSAC (under apply), in the top right corner it says "My Status."

I added an LOR, so mine lists more sent than requested because of that.fingerscrossedxx wrote:I have the same discrepancy, sometimes i sends a report to a school twice if there was an update or something? My Yale report says "Report not generated". Is that weird?

No, mine says the same thing for Yale though it has now been requested and the LOR page shows the little mailed envelopes. It is weird though because I had all my stuff in before submitting, except to UVA. So 8 would make sense, but not 10. Hope no randos are looking through my app stuff lol. There's some exciting stuff in therekulshan wrote:I added an LOR, so mine lists more sent than requested because of that.fingerscrossedxx wrote:I have the same discrepancy, sometimes i sends a report to a school twice if there was an update or something? Mine says that - although I only applied last night.kulshan wrote:My Yale report says "Report not generated". Is that weird?
My report status page says 14 requests received / 13 reports sent. The missing report to be sent is Yale, but the weird thing is that I know LSAC sent my report to Penn twice (because they messed up the first one, I that pointed it out to them, and they told me they had resent it), yet the report page doesn't seem to list any of mine as sent twice.

Greeeeeat.....so maybe LSAC just screwed up some of my initial reports. Nice.AntipodeanPhil wrote:Mine says that - although I only applied last night.kulshan wrote:My Yale report says "Report not generated". Is that weird?

Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
They've only screwed up one of mine. I previewed it, and everything seemed fine, but when I checked the 'transmitted application' pdf, I noticed that all of the content was missing from the education section. The heading was there, but the questions and my answers were missing. Of course, I could have screwed up and somehow deleted my answers, but there is no way to delete the questions, which made it clear that it was their mistake. I emailed them and they fixed it, resent the app, and emailed me back.MumofCad wrote:Greeeeeat.....so maybe LSAC just screwed up some of my initial reports. If your 'transmitted application' pdfs look fine, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

My (6 year old) brother watches it all the time! My mom doesn't really understand what's going on but expressed concerns that it might be "for adults".

Well I'm going to be slandered for this, but, why would you answer yes? It seems like it can only hurt you.igelchen wrote:are folks just listing people for

I answered no because I didn't have any help (besides this website, but I didn't that constituted the kind of "help" they were asking for)

Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
You should always just tell the truth. I wrote a single sentence that I had friends and family, as well as a pre-law adviser from the undergraduate university proof my essays. Its not going to hurt you (for Pete's sake, Asha has suggested you'd be insane not to do so a million times on her blog).
I would not leave it blank. Either you didn't take the process seriously or you are lying. Everyone needs proof readers.

If it's not going to be a factor (however tiny) in making admissions decisions, why would they ask the question?MumofCad wrote:You should always just tell the truth. By the way, I did have a friend proofread my essay, so I'll go change my answer because I don't think they expect you to do it all by yourself, but if you were one of those people who paid thousands of dollars on LSAT prep and admissions consulting, then I definitely think it WILL hurt you.

Re: Yale c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Yes, that's why they ask, because they want to know about that sort of thing. I meant that saying family members or what not proof read your essays is not going to hurt you, which is the question he asked about. As for whether hiring a private consultant for that question will "hurt" you - not per se but it gives them full information to evaluate your application. If your PS reads like it should be in the New Yorker, but you generally got B-s in your college lit courses, they might take that into consideration. Whether its "hurting" you or just giving them an accurate assessment of your capabilities is up for you to decide I suppose (though I would tend to the latter).Curious1 wrote:If it's not going to be a factor (however tiny) in making admissions decisions, why would they ask the question?MumofCad wrote:You should always just tell the truth. Plus, you should NEVER EVER lie on a law school app. Unless you enjoy paying potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars on an education you may then not be able to use. Really....over whether you took a Kaplan course? Think about it.

I would think that a person who got a 180 without prep is going to look a lot more impressive than a person who got a 180 with (paid and professional) prep. Adcomms are human and there's always the "unfair advantage" label on paid test prep.bleylaw wrote:lol what about the one about whether you took a prep course for lsat

And a person with a 180 who lies on their Yale app can kiss admission goodbye. ETA: On second thought, if everyone with a 180 can please lie on their Yale app this year...that would be super helpful. Thank you. Hahaha
