Also Econ but I got a note inviting me to check out corp law offerings. Really classy touch overall for maybe an hour or two worth of writingj12 wrote:Same note for me. Although generic I appreciate the effort it takes to hand sign a couple hundred letters.Tiago Splitter wrote:Michigan has recognized my "obvious commitment to academic excellence." Who knew?
Also got the personalized note that my econ degree will be a great foundation for a JD. I'm sure plenty of others saw an identical note, but it's still pretty cool.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
For anyone interested, I spoke to LSAC, and they realize this is an issue with multiple schools (Berkeley, off the top of my head, as well as others). They said that while they do plan on fixing the issue, it is not a top priority (there are lots of bugs, if you haven't already noticed). They said in the meantime to just create a single word document with all of your addenda, and attach it as a single document, like I said above.sanetruth wrote:Maybe I'm ahead of the game here, but has anyone noticed that the Mich app does not allow you 'attach' more than one essay in the supplemental essays section? If anyone has noticed this, is there a fix? I guess I could just combine the word files of two of my essays, but it seems like this is just a glitch that hopefully can/will be fixed.

Checking in. Got my fee waiver today, complete with personalized letter telling me political science is a good avenue to LS. Which is good, because poli sci degree = lawyer, lobbyist, or hobo.
(Seriously though, it was a nice touch.)

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I got a fee waiver today...I thought it was a nice touch that it was so personalized. This is definitely a reach for me, so I'm gonna send in my app as soon as it allows us to.
One question though: My academic year WAS interrupted for one term or more (as asked in the education section). I actually got the swine flu (I know..) and the University of Florida didn't let me go to class so they allowed me to withdraw from any classes that I couldn't do from home. Hence...all the W's on my transcript in the Fall of '09. Michigan doesn't have a specific attachment for that...should I add it onto my supplemental essays? How would you label it so the adcomm knows what I'm referring to?
Thanks guys and best of luck to everyone.

These personalized notes were a great PR move for Michigan. I know tons of people got them, but I still felt like a special snowflake when I read the "WE love [redacted] grads!"
Also, hi everyone

Yeah, just add at the bottom of your addendum with a new header or title that says: Addendum on Leave of Absence, XX University, Fall/Spring XXXXgatorlaw wrote:I got a fee waiver today...I thought it was a nice touch that it was so personalized. By the way, for anyone thinking of applying ED... when they offered me my deferral, they said there was little chance I'd receive any money scholarship-wise. She did ask whether other schools had offered me anything (I was caught a bit off-guard and forgot the mention the T20 offer I had gotten, mainly because I doubted that they'd match it, and also because I had already turned it down a few months back), and I said no and accepted my at-sticker fate. Today I got a letter in the mail that they're giving me 30k =) So dreams come true and all of that.
God, I'm so happy I'm going to school here.

Wow. That's really cool. This thread has really reaffirmed a lot of the reasons I'd be happy at M.descartesb4thehorse wrote:By the way, for anyone thinking of applying ED... when they offered me my deferral, they said there was little chance I'd receive any money scholarship-wise. Just for my own reference, would you mind PMing me your #s? Just trying to figure out what chance I have depending on how my retake turns out

I was under the impression EDing to Michigan had little boost for a cycle.

Getting this Why? essay down to one page proved more difficult than I expected.

Clearly, this is where the 'stellar' folks congregate. I actually wasn't considering Michigan seriously before, but now I'm very interested. Well played, Michigan.

You know that PR is good when it makes you think "I can't believe I wasn't considering this."PSUdevon wrote:Right?basilseal wrote:Clearly, this is where the 'stellar' folks congregate. I actually wasn't considering Michigan seriously before, but now I'm very interested. Well played, Michigan.

I can see why they push the Why Essay so much. Spend a little time researching and suddenly you think "I could really see myself here."basilseal wrote:You know that PR is good when it makes you think "I can't believe I wasn't considering this."PSUdevon wrote:Right?basilseal wrote:Clearly, this is where the 'stellar' folks congregate. I visited AA with Soj and Eich today. I don't think I've ever wanted anything so bad in my life as I want to go to Michigan. The amount of times I posted this in the last hour is a testament to how much of an impression it had on me.

Give us some info on what struck you! I know I'm particularly concerned about the livability of the next 3 years so I'm curious!
Anyone else have sudden anxiety when hitting the submit button? I was comfortable yesterday with my PS, but now it suddenly looks like crap lol.
