got rejected by email this morning, sigh. it was a big reach for me so i'm not surprised. good luck to everyone else applying!gatorapplicant wrote:I submitted my ED app on 9/7 and it was complete on 9/8. (With 166/3.82, UVA is most definitely a reach school for me.)

I guess, but they seem to be at least somewhat interested in hearing an answer as to Why UVA from all candidates, not just RD.Yeshia90 wrote:Well, ED'ing is the ultimate Why. Right?Dinho wrote:I wrote a Why UVA?, but did not end up sending it in because there was no specific prompt for it like there is on the Michigan app and thought it might be a good idea to have something additional ready should they ask for it. It was the second or third question Jason Dugas asked me during the initial interview and I think I gave a pretty good answer. I don't know if they would have preferred that I just submitted my Why UVA with the rest of the app, but he seemed to like what I had to say over the phone and it didn't come up with Dean Richard when she called.Real Madrid wrote:Did those of you that have already been accepted write "Why UVA?" essays? Especially those of you that applied ED.
Not writing a Why UVA doesn't seem to be auto ding-worthy for ED applicants, but I think at least getting some thoughts down on paper about why you want to go to UVA is a worthwhile exercise that could help.

Surprised they're turning away reverse EDs so early in the game.gatorapplicant wrote:got rejected by email this morning, sigh. it was a big reach for me so i'm not surprised. good luck to everyone else applying!gatorapplicant wrote:I submitted my ED app on 9/7 and it was complete on 9/8. I think the 3.85 median represents the magic number for reverse splitters.descartesb4thehorse wrote:Surprised they're turning away reverse EDs so early in the game.gatorapplicant wrote:got rejected by email this morning, sigh. it was a big reach for me so i'm not surprised. good luck to everyone else applying!gatorapplicant wrote:I submitted my ED app on 9/7 and it was complete on 9/8. Not even a WL being .03 off? Seems unnecessarily cruel. Interesting to see if they continue former Admissions Dean Trujillo's strategy/plan with regards to splitters, specifically reverse splitters. I know many people, including myself as a 2L, who owe the beginning success of our careers in large part to the fact that he'd allow someone in with a 164/3.86.

Good point. The upside is that the decision was made so quickly that OP has plenty of time to get lots of other apps in early.descartesb4thehorse wrote: Not even a WL being .03 off? Seems unnecessarily cruel. My sympathies, OP.

Myself and Wolfpac2 were both admitted ED this cycle with similar stats to yours. Mine are 165/3.89.desertlaw wrote:Interesting to see if they continue former Admissions Dean Trujillo's strategy/plan with regards to splitters, specifically reverse splitters. I've looked at this thread about a zillion times in the last week so it's only fair to provide some info:
Complete ED last thursday, in today
3.36, 172

This is encouraging for me as long as I get the LSAT score I want.jacksonmead wrote:I've looked at this thread about a zillion times in the last week so it's only fair to provide some info:

Exactly. If you're below both medians, you're an auto-reject. No surprise here.Tiago Splitter wrote:I think the 3.85 median represents the magic number for reverse splitters.descartesb4thehorse wrote:Surprised they're turning away reverse EDs so early in the game.gatorapplicant wrote:got rejected by email this morning, sigh. it was a big reach for me so i'm not surprised. good luck to everyone else applying!gatorapplicant wrote:I submitted my ED app on 9/7 and it was complete on 9/8. Wait, how high is too high? I don't want to be waitlisted because my LSAT is 2 points higher than the medianReal Madrid wrote:PSUdevon wrote:$20 says I get waitlisted.
That's probably a safe bet. UVA waitlists people like nobody's business. If your numbers are too low: waitlist (they seem to like soft rejections). If your numbers are too high: waitlist (they love yield protecting). If your numbers are just right (and you write a good "Why UVA?") you might avoid it.
Love UVA. Hate their waitlist policies.

Just write a strong "Why UVA" essay and I am sure that you are in the clear.sdwhodat wrote:Wait, how high is too high? I don't want to be waitlisted because my LSAT is 2 points higher than the medianReal Madrid wrote:PSUdevon wrote:$20 says I get waitlisted.
