I am deciding between STCL with a 9200 a year scholarship, 75% tuition scholarship from Cumberland (Samford), and now Tech, as well as hoping to get off the UH waitlist. I'm going to try and negotiate for some money from Tech (if at all possible, in-state tuition). Thanks and congrats to everyone else!

I got the email, then looked for the first time since december at the status checker. "Hang in there! A letter is on its way."

So I did not originally get a scholarship from Tech. So I sent an email directly to Dean Perez asking about the availability of scholarship money and stated that I had other scholarship offers from peer schools and schools ranked higher than them. A few days passed and I didn't hear anything. So i sent the same email to the general law school admissions email address and got a e-mail back the very same day that went like this.......

Thank you for your email.

We understand your concerns regarding the possibility of tuition increases. At that time a final decision has not been made regarding an increase in tuition. I do anticipate that there will be an increase, I just am not sure how much of an increase will be approved.

Currently we are not able to award any additional scholarships. We might be able to do so during the summer, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so or that you would receive one.

We understand the decision you have to make is a difficult one. I would ask that you remember that even with a tuition increase, we will still be less expensive than many schools, particularly private schools. The cost of living in Lubbock is usually less than the cost of living in a much larger city.

Well today I got an e-mail from Dean Perez informing that I will indeed be getting a scholarship in the amount of $10,000/year (top 50% stip). I guess the moral of the story is a closed mouth doesn't get fed.

They bumped up my scholarship by $5,000 a year, so I sent in a deposit. I don't know what I'm going to do though. I have fallen in love with ASU

What did that increase your final scholarship amount to? I'm interested since our numbers are so similar. Mine was bumped up to 15k a year top 50%

Mine is 11K top 15%. 15k would probably be enough to tip the scales for me. Even if the tuition goes up by 26%, you're only going to pay 9k a year. If it doesn't go up much, you could end up paying 3 or 4k a year. Where else are you looking?

Top 15%? That is really rough. I'm looking at lsu and tech primarily.

Drove up to Lubbock and visited the campus and law building. Sat in on a class, met some students and professors. I was very impressed. Tech seems very solid across the board for the lowest price (even with the increase in tuition coming up) in the state of Texas. Made my deposit today and I'm very excited for next fall.

I don't want to come off as arrogant by already sending them a scholarship negotiation e-mail, yet I don't know if I have a choice with time seemingly not on my side...Thoughts?
