Anyone who has an admit packet handy, do you mind sharing when the admitted students days/weekend are?
My packet is on it's way to my parents in the midwest and I happen to be in San Francisco, wondering if I should just go randomly visit lol.

Anyone know who qualifies for airfare reimbursement and such for the admitted student’s day? Or if Hastings does that?

Congrats on the acceptance! You going to hastings? Although I'm not from Hawaii I kind of see it as a second home. My good friends in college are from Hilo and Kaneohe and I lived with them in Oahu a few summers ago. Great place and awesome people.jspri wrote:In via phone call on friday. 155/3.9 thank you hastings!!!!
The assistant dean said they had strong ties with hawaii. Any other islanders get in?

That's like 4 schools I've gotten into with the March 26th ASW weekend. Talk about poor scheduling.

i have a question for the other 0Ls here... do you think hastings is a good choice, over lower ranked socal schools, if someone wants to practice in san diego? i applied to hastings, loyola, and USD, and may (probably) get more money from the latter two... the reputation is enticing, but i'm having trouble...

Re: UC Hastings 2011
Hmm. It also depends on how much you would get etc. But if you specifically want to practice in SD, I would probably take USD, especially if I got a significant amount of scholarship $$ as well. Also Loyola's scholarship has a significant stipulation requiring you to be in the top 30% of the class to keep the scholarship. Loyola would be better if you wanted LA.smittelman6 wrote:i have a question for the other 0Ls here... do you think hastings is a good choice, over lower ranked socal schools, if someone wants to practice in san diego? i applied to hastings, loyola, and USD, and may (probably) get more money from the latter two... the reputation is enticing, but i'm having trouble...
It also depends on your career goals and how much $$ you will be making at certain type of jobs + ability to pay back loans. I don't know, I personally would want to be in the least amount of debt possible.

I'd probably attend USD with $$, but be prepared to drop out if you lose the scholarship.smittelman6 wrote:i have a question for the other 0Ls here... do you think hastings is a good choice, over lower ranked socal schools, if someone wants to practice in san diego? i applied to hastings, loyola, and USD, and may (probably) get more money from the latter two... the reputation is enticing, but i'm having trouble...

Re: UC Hastings 2011
Like Gen Tso said, USD for the most part has the same top 30 stip that Loyola does. So, it's really the two of those vs. Hastings (and if i got the 10k grant with no stip it would end up being almost the same price)... I'm just wondering if hastings' reputation carries over to the south, or would I be much better off in socal with a socal degree...queenlizzie13 wrote:Hmm. +1 I'm pretty sure I'm not going to Hastings but if they fly me out for free I'd check out the school.Top14Hope wrote:Anyone know who qualifies for airfare reimbursement and such for the admitted student’s day? Or if Hastings does that?

Re: UC Hastings 2011
if it is truly almost the same price, I'd attend Hastings. but for me, it was Hastings at ~32k per year vs. USD/Loyola at around ~20k per year. That's an extra 36k to attend Hastings. I probably would have chosen USD if I were choosing today.smittelman6 wrote: Like Gen Tso said, USD for the most part has the same top 30 stip that Loyola does. With Hastings you are looking at about a 10-20% chance of earning 100k+ right away. With USD you are looking at about a 5% chance. But USD offers a 30% chance of keeping your scholarship and getting out with a reasonable amount of debt that can be repaid on a 60-65k salary. Plus it's easy to walk away if you happen to lose your scholarship.

I'll probably stick my head in for one of them since I now work just on the other side of the BART station, would love to meet some of y'alls. I headed over there Monday to take a tour with a friend who is a 2L, pretty sweet Moot court area, the library was decent, going to tail him to a class on Friday. Overall a positive impression. Of course, I was going to go anyways, but it's still fun to head over with an admit letter in hand...acucla wrote:Congratulations everyone!I was an EC admit, so I'm definitely attending Hastings this fall. Re: UC Hastings 2011
I took a tour about two weeks ago and I liked it as well. From what I heard, I was expecting the area to be awful, but it wasn't bad at all. Then again, I was only there for a couple of hours during the middle of the day. I'm planning on attending the the March 26th admit day, looking forward to it.lisavj wrote:I'll probably stick my head in for one of them since I now work just on the other side of the BART station, would love to meet some of y'alls. Re: UC Hastings 2011
In today via mail! Complete since mid-November. I was basically median for both LSAT and GPA so this wasn't a sure thing. Highest ranked school I've gotten into so far. But I'm still leaning toward Loyola and the big scholly package they're offering, unless by some miracle Hastings gives me money. I'll still try to go to the March admitted student day.
Also, slightly jealous of you all getting phone acceptances. I haven't gotten one yet. That just seems more fun.
