Re: Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
Can any current students of recent Kent grads give me, a prospective student who was recently admitted, any insight about job prospects? I'm particularly interested in job prospects if I were to pursue patent law (I have a MSEE and about 8 years of systems engineering experience). Thanks.

I just got an invite to their honors program - does anyone know much about that? I wasn't planning on applying, but I am interested in Internet law, and they'll probably give me a lot of money.

Did you know your decision via status checker or did you have to wait for the USPS package?LawSchoolPorFavor wrote:you will! I got my decision exactly one week after going into "final review."pauwelsd wrote:application went to 'final review' today. i'm hoping to have a decision soon...

It's a good thing. You get a lot of extra opportunities to learn and network and it's an excellent resume booster. The full ride + stipend is nice too. You can read up on their site.smscat wrote:I just got an invite to their honors program - does anyone know much about that? In via email, with snail mail details. Full tuition for the first year, then $20k/year renewable after that as long as I keep a 3.25. Fingers crossed that won't be a problem!

For the honors program, it says everything must be received by Feb. 7th - including LSAC report, which they request. Once I send in the application, how long does it take to receive the report? Is it already too late to apply?

I believe if you've already sent in an application this is moot. Otherwise, I have no idea, I've only sent the report via student-initiated action, which didn't take more than a day.

It's weird that we're rather similar in #s but our cycles are playing out so differently...

In via email 1/17 (applied first week of Dec.), now the wait with fingers crossed for good news in acceptance packet. Got W/L at Depaul so at least I have a guarantee at being able to stay in the Chi. Now to hear from the out of state schools..

I'm getting antsy awaiting my acceptance packet. i think this is probably worse than waiting for the decision...

Got packet today, looks to be 10k/year for duration with no GPA req. Coming from a deferred decision and ultimate rejection last year, can't say I'm anything but happy with this. Now to decide where to attend after also getting accepted by higher ranked UNM today.

Got my packet in the mail today too, Full ride first year and 20k with 3.25 GPA after that, or I can pick 18k all 3 years.
I think it's kinda tricky how they make you bet on how well you're going to do in law school for your money. It seems like they're kind of planning on people to say 'I can do that, no problem!' and then mess up so they don't have to pay as much.
