I'm between Richmond and not going at all The Marshall information won't come until April and I haven't heard anything about the base numbers. I think I'm going to call them today. . . .

They said that about the admissions too (that the committee wouldn't meet until March) but lots of people have heard back already. I wouldn't be surprised if they made some initial John Marshall offers sooner than April. Most people are making their first deposits in April so they would potentially lose some of their best candidates.

I just called and they said that scholarship information would be coming out by "the middle of March."

*sigh* more waiting. . .

Well I applied because I received a fee waiver and then met Dean Rahman at a law school fair. I read the few things she provided me and decided it couldn't hurt to apply. If it wasn't for their active recruiting I never would have known anything about them and wouldn't have applied.

Did they leave a voicemail message. Also, does the number so up on your phone or is it unknown...I have a missed call from an unknown number but they didn't leave a message...Do they send an email before calling?

New dean announced, she looks like she is well qualified.

accepted via phone last night...the dean was very nice and mentioned how my brother graduated from there and all. very personal touch

Edit: Called back and talked to Dean Rahman, I'm in!:) No info yet on the John Marshall, but she did say I'd have at least some scholarship money.

Yeah, they sent an e-mail after I had applied but before I was accepted inviting me to apply, I think some people got this invitation later in the cycle if they figured they wouldn't hear back before the scholarship application was due.

Yeah, I had heard that. I was basically given the idea I wouldn't get it, lol, but was invited to apply. I'm really hoping for a miracle on that one!

Got the letter with the updated tuition numbers today They broke $35 g a year.

. . . .and even the lucky ones who get the Marshall scholars program only get up to $30,000 with no increase for tuition increase. . . so next year, if it raises again . . . *sigh*

30 out of 35 isn't that bad. Plus it comes with a lot of other stuff, I would take 5k a year. Not many place offer a complete full ride. The problem is being one of the lucky ones lol

I'm contemplating if I should get out of work early to meet the admissions dean for a meal in Philly on Friday...anyone else in the Philly area planning on attending?

30 out of 35 isn't that bad. Plus it comes with a lot of other stuff, I would take 5k a year. Not many place offer a complete full ride. The problem is being one of the lucky ones lol

True that, I'm just thinking that if the increases are the same as this year that the gap next year will be $7,000 and then the third year $9,000 (give or take each year, + books/insurance/living expenses)

fingers crossed I'm a lucky one. I think if I get the John Marshall Richmond will probably be it...but I'm balancing it with some other offers and waiting to hear back from a couple of schools.
Visiting Richmond again this month, I hope it's as great as I remember from my previous visit plus I want some assurance that the mission won't change with a new dean.

I met the old one when I visited, liked him a lot and he came from Dartmouth (which is where I live) and I liked the northern influence, made me feel less out of place coming from the northeast I guess. Plus they stressed the deans commitment to keeping the school small and to not increase class sizes just to increase revenue which I liked

I did a visit this Monday and was highly impressed. They seem like they keep the class size small giving every student great opportunities.

I've been following the WM and the UR threads, so you're not sure what you want to do yet?
