My DREAM school

At this point, I'm either going to be rejected or WL'ed and I'm hoping for the latter. At least then I can continue to tell them how much I love them.

They send out a lot of fee waivers. They are more than likely trying to pad their stats. As a 169, 3.3, non-URM, you shouldn't hold your breath over Columbia.

I got a fee waiver as well, and my LSAT is lower ^. I applied (of course) but I don't think URM can save me from rejection.

There is more than one way for a law school to "pad its stats." Doodsmack, I think, was referring to the practice of giving out fee waivers to those who are unlikely to get accepted. The benefit to the law school is that it gets to reject more people and thus increase its selectivity ratings.

Based on what I've seen on TLS, Columbia gives out hundreds (at least) of fee waivers to people who have no chance of being accepted.

um, omg, me too. i had a dream that CLS accepted me after being deferred and I remembered thinking, oh man, I didn't even get to send them a LOCI on the nice stationery I just bought. And then proceeded to update my fb status with omfg omfg omfg columbia.

A little upset as I posted a 3.86 fall semester, so I wasn't sure what they wanted out of me. Oh well...good luck to RD, most likely i'll be goign to NYU
