Yay speculation!Anon.y.mousse. wrote:Wild speculation is fun! Last year Penn had ~5600 applicants. With an acceptance rate somewhere around 20%, that means 1120 people were accepted/Toll eligible. Based on public interest focus of the Toll, the fact that a certain percentage of the class is nominated for a Levy, & the video requirement, i would guess maybe 10-15% of admits submit Toll apps (could be way off base there) which would put us somewhere between ~110 to ~170. and then if somewhere between 40 and 50 people are interviewedMoonyUpToNoGood wrote:Toll Applicants, 2 questions:
1. Does anyone know roughly how many people apply to the Toll scholarship each year? I saw someone post a couple pages ago that they extend ~50 interviews, but 50 OUT OF HOW MANY? Anyone wanna speculate with me?
2. What's the deal with the application deadline? I was given two weeks from the time they sent the email to my deadline. Does everyone get only two weeks? Anyone get more than two weeks? Maybe there is "waves" of deadlines? Like all February acceptances have to submit by dd/mm?
Sorry if these questions were addressed somewhere in here earlier - but I'd appreciate any insight!
anywhere between ~25% to ~45% of applicants are interviewed. my guess would be it's closer to 15% of applicants apply for it making the interview rate closer to 25% but who knows.
ETA: I had two and a half weeks from Toll email to deadline but I imagine that people who were accepted after the initial email are getting a tighter timeframe.
1. I say that's fair, anon.y.mousse. I might peg it lower, based on no evidence at all... closer to the 25% than the 45%. So maybe 200 people apply?
2. I was accepted in December. Feb 1 was the first Toll e-mail, and they gave us til 2/20, so 19 days. I think there are only waves of deadlines based on your acceptance date.
Hoping for an invite tomorrow or next week!
