Do you remember when you submitted/went complete? Still got nothing but silence on my end
I submitted mid-november, I don't remember when it went complete but my first UR date was 11/23
We probably submitted the same day for UVA too then. 11/23 was my UR date as well.
Did you have any date changes before your interview?
Really hoping I don't have another WL incoming...
I had one change on 12/2; status checker didn't change at all for interview request which came this week.
Have you had any date changes? You're over 75th LSAT, so YP is always a possibility unless you wrote a strong Why X =/

No date changes at all. You didn't send an email asking them not to hold for your Dec score did you? An adcom told me to just submit even though my score was pending and they'd still review it so I didn't send anything else.
My Why UVA probably wasn't very strong but I don't really think I have YP numbers since I'm slightly below median for GPA and my LSAT is barely over 75th.
Seems like we have pretty similar numbers. I got in this week after submitting on 11/30, so I don't think you'd be YP!

No, I didn't, on their website it said they would review unless specifically asked to hold. Hmm that's weird then. You're UR though, right? I know some people are getting in without interviews, so you could be in that group.

Got accepted with the Dillard today! So excited! Very much a yp candidate, but wrote a persuasive why uva and went to visit. Interviewed at the school (rather informally) and they handed me the packet at the end of the talk!
I've really fallen in love with uva, so I'm glad this was my first acceptance. Going to be an agonizing choice to make in the coming months.

Yp is yield protect, which refers to the practice of rejecting overqualified applicants (normally significantly higher than 75th for gpa and LSAT) to ensure that the school's yield percentage (the percentage of students attending versus admitted) doesn't go down. Yield is part of the school ranking criteria, so a school might reject someone if they don't believe that the applicant is seriously considering the school.

Interesting. I had considered that potential situation, but I didn't think it was a real practice. Thank you for taking the time to explain!

Oh, and congratulations!! That's a huge accomplishment. I wish you luck in your impending decision.

There should be a miscellaneous addendum section at the bottom of the list, or something similar. Attach it there.

Oh I see. So I don't have any ties at all to Virginia/UVA but am very interested in UVA because they seem to be the most reverse-splitter friendly school out of the t14. I will most likely ED UVA once I get my LSAT score back.
Do you guys think I should write a why UVA essay based on the information on the website/Internet and polish that up or just stick with my personal and diversity statements that I have now? UVA, Berkeley, and Penn are my top choices and I would be thrilled to get in any one of those schools.

I don't know that it would make a huge difference for an ED applicant, but I'd only write a Why UVA if you haven't already addressed it in your PS/DS. Certainly write a Why UVA if you don't ED, and be sure to be specific about how UVA would help you meet your objectives--not simply regurgitating their viewbook.

I hope I'm not the only one who didn't know about the ability to submit a Why UVA as an addendum

unless I didn't go through old forums well enough hahah

Kind of a similar boat but GPA is lower.
I posit admissions is waiting to see if your strong lsat score is needed -- so I guess they are waiting until Dec scores come out to render a decision. But I defer to those on TLS with more experience and knowledge

Still UR1 here as well.
UR 1 since 9/16. Median LSAT, with lower GPA. I'm guessing they're waiting to accept people at the medians to see if they can possibly raise back up to a 169

Do you know if your undergraduate institution has any bearing on admissions?
I have been UR for a couple of months, and my LSAT/GPA are both at the median. However, UVA tends to take a good number of students from my college. I am wondering if they are trying to see the whole range of applicants from my school or if they only take a certain amount of students from each school.

I imagine it does, I can't seem them evaluating someone from a pinnacle institution the same way they evaluate a lower ranked school. At my UG institution getting an A is notoriously difficult, and (no joke) 0.00% of the graduating classes have 4.0s, so I can't imagine us being held to the same standard as a school where a 4.3 is not only possible but common.
Unless you go to an ivy, it's generally expected to have no impact. Gpa and LSAT are king, regardless of institution. Doesn't matter about grading scale. They don't get to report UG grading scale to usnwr
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
