Gender = what you identify with

True, and it ignores a cisgendered person. However, I think that an or doesn't imply exclusion that it must be binary. So saying he/she meaning he or she means he, she, or some combination thereof (aka neither or both).scoobers wrote:except she/he implies a gender binary.Attax wrote:Incorrect. (s)he or he/she seems the most appropriate as it doesn't imply any particular gender. Just like how Ms. is appropriate if you don't know a woman's marital status.EEguy5 wrote:So maybe capt was just pointing out that it is socially acceptable to use "he" as a term referring to all genders and thus he/she is unnecessary and rudundant?
English really needs a completely gender-neutral term. Using "he" is another example of putting women outside the norm, the same way how it is okay to refer to women using male terms, but not men using female terms.

There's also xe and hir, although no one really uses those outside of xojane, etc.Attax wrote:True, and it ignores a cisgendered person. Came back from lunch to see three new pages, expected to see a bunch of decisions.
Glad it was just he-she talk.

Good luck to everyone waiting on decisions today. I hope there are acceptances with the speculated waitlists.

I thought "ze" was the gender-neutral pronoun?

Based on your numbers and your lack of a why NU or an interview, they probably don't think you're actually interested.graphia wrote:Still complete as of early September myself. 174-176, 3.9x, no interview or Why Northwestern.Michigan1442 wrote:Is it a bad sign for my status checker to still be on my first complete date (late Sept)? Didn't interview with an alum due to my location...but did write a why Northwestern.
I think they forgot about me.

DLA. Ugh. Lets see what happens here. Before this, submitted early Dec, interviewed mid-Dec, last complete was 1/2

So NU does DLA on the hour. Is that it can happen multiple times, or is it that it only turns once a day, but that will be on the hour?
ETA: Nothing for me right now, if that wasn't obvious. Second complete earlier this week.

DLA. I'm sure it's a waitlist, which I'm not surprised about given how badly my interview went (hadn't slept in 24 hours bc of work and it was with an admissions rep)
Good luck to everyone!
