I have to say, I am really turned off by Cornell's inefficiency and borderline rudeness to some candidates ITT. Hanging up on someone? WTF? When I started the process they were one of my 2-3 top choices, but I have bumped them down. Is this a form of YP? If you're able to put up with it before depositing elsewhere, you must really like Ithaca?

I'm starting to think this may be a factor in Cornell lagging behind peer schools in LSAT/GPA. All that money coming in and out of an Ivy League institution, and they can't afford to hire a couple of extra $40k/yr office helpers?

I would normally say, "I hope adcomms are reading this," but I know they don't have the staff for that.

6 weeks is the earliest interview? I'm seriously considering just withdrawing. I'd need a full ride from Cornell to consider it and I really doubt they'd be sending that in time??

Wat. Yeah... I'm hopping on that Withdraw train.

ETA: I've said it before, I'll say it again: Schools need our tuition money way, way more than we need their degrees. If they treat us like dirty before we even write them a check, it's only going to get worse.

How? Are they giving late dates to those who are at risk for YP? I called and they didn't even pick up.

i am oddly amused by all of this, even while being frustrated. i'm almost wondering if i should sit back and relax today, and not call to schedule until tomorrow. perhaps any backlash cornell receives today will work in my favor tomorrow??? lol ill probs just get a date 10 weeks out

A bit late to the game, but interview request today, as well. One of the 2/14 --> 2/17 group.

This is very odd. I got a decision within a month of applying, and my numbers aren't auto-admit(168/3.74). That was in November, though.

Anyway, does anyone think that I could sway Cornell on scholarship amounts by pointing to big offers from the likes of GW and Notre Dame? Or would I get laughed out of the admissions office? I haven't heard back from them on amounts yet, I'm just planning my moves.

I got mines scheduled for the next 2 weeks. And they are def not trying to YP interviewees because we confirmed a time slot before asked for my personal info. I think they are just not very efficient/technological (as evidenced by phoning in as opposed to filling out a web form).

Is this right, admits/current students, that I have to deliver both my actual tax return and my parents' tax return (even though I'm independent) in order to be considered for a merit scholarship?

That's batshit crazy, if so.

My understanding is that Cornell offers awards based on a combination of merit and need, and that the processes are not separate.

I was under the impression the answer is yes.

Can someone create an anonymous 1 hour email and send this and the last page of this thread to Cornell so they can see how they're pissing everyone off? I too had them at the top of my list, but they've been dropping ever since. If they were T6, it'd be a different story, but this is ridiculous...
