So Stanford is doing the slow trickle of death with their rejections?

Also, St. Valentine got clubbed to death, didn't he? That puts a damper in the whole flowers/chocolate/mushy feelings scene, doesn't it? debbiedowner.gif

St Valentine/Valentinus was killed for attempting to convert Claudius II. He was beaten with clubs and then beheaded outside the Flamian Gate on Feb. 14, 269 CE.

BUT on the bright side, the Roman festival of fertility, Lupercalia, has been Feb 13-15 since before Valentinus was around. Then again, this also involved animal sacrifices and lots of dark stuff like that (fun NPR article if you're in the mood).
