Re: WUSTL c/o 2016
What you have to realize is that these are the accepted students at this point. They are establishing the medians right now. Once they have a decent idea of how many 165/3.7 people they have, they'll hit the waitlist/waiting people hard. A *large* number of the people accepted on LSN are not going to attend Wash U. They cannot fill out the class with the remaining people until they know how many at their desired medians they will have, otherwise a lopsided yield would wreck their medians. Look at the past years graphs on LSN - where the green line ends, that's where the median is going to be established. With Wash U accepting almost everyone above their desired median, and not yield protecting overly hard, they have a ton of people admitted for whom Wash U is a safety school, and that will not be attending.alwayssunnyinfl wrote:So, I just GEEKED OUT and crunched the numbers. Among those who reported acceptances on LSN, the median is a 167/3.57. Of course, they may start taking higher GPA's and lower LSAT scores as the cycle continues, but it looks like they're aiming for at least a 166 if not 167.Randomnumbers wrote: Look at LSN. It looks like they are shooting for ~3.7/165 this year. Our class has dropped from 276 two years ago to ~196 this year. We'll take the LSAT drop before another drop in class size. With the shrinking applicant pool, they'll be unable to match the 167/168 days from peak enrollment again. Application numbers are down another ~25% or so across the board.
