The prospect of FR2 makes me anxious. I don't like waiting/countdowns.

this is probably a stupid question but does FR2 refer to the second wave of applicants submitted to FR?ohpobrecito wrote:The prospect of FR2 makes me anxious. I don't like waiting/countdowns.

Seriously. Between maybe having FR2 and waiting on two others that would be options in the event I'm admitted, life is full of First World Problems at the moment.ohpobrecito wrote:The prospect of FR2 makes me anxious. I don't like waiting/countdowns.

I wonder how they decide who goes into which faculty review wave. I would think it would be by date, but clearly that isn't the case. Weird.

Also still standing. UR 12/6.
ETA: Anyone know of folks who went FR who were UR *after* 12/6?

Standing 1/4.
On some level...you have to think they'll accept more non FR at some point.

Just want to reiterate that this was the nicest and most tactful rejection letter I've ever received. I have to say that I really appreciate how much thought was put into it. Wasn't surprised by the ding anyway.

I've seen it with early December admits but earlier than that...I'm just not sure.dsn32 wrote:Have they ever done this before this late in the game (outside of January apps)?megagnarley wrote:Standing 1/4.

Looking at the Feb page of decisions from last year is terrifying.

Has anyone been dinged above both medians yet? It doesn't seem like many. All of which is to say, expect this to get worse before it gets better.

Edward Tom wrote:Dear goden,
After reviewing thoroughly your application for admission to UC Berkeley School of Law, the Admissions Committee has decided, with regret, not to offer you a place in the Class of 2016.
Our decision was not easy. The majority of our applicants are well-qualified to pursue the study of law, and indeed many of them are qualified to pursue that study at Berkeley. But with more than twenty applicants competing for each place in the class, our choices must be highly selective. Although our review process is thorough, it is also human, fallible, and in part subjective.
You are to be congratulated on your accomplishments, and I hope that you will be admitted at other law schools. If Berkeley Law remains your first choice you may wish to consider applying to transfer at the end of your first year at another ABA-approved law school. Transfer applicants are evaluated primarily on their first-year performance, and we offer advanced standing admission to 40-45 students annually from an applicant pool of approximately 250-300 candidates.
I am sorry that this letter must convey disappointing news. We wish you all the best in your applications to other law schools and in your career. Thank you very much for your interest in Berkeley Law and for entrusting us with your application.
Sincerely,
Edward Tom
Dean of Admissions

I don't really get what the big fuss is about a "nice" rejection letter. So instead of saying, "you suck, we don't want you or your kind at our prestigious institution," they say, "We love you and know that you tried very hard, but we just cannot take all of the awesome people that apply." Both mean the same thing: we do not want you. If anything, the former is more honest.wert3813 wrote:Has anyone been dinged above both medians yet? It doesn't seem like many.
