I can't accept the "just because" rationale for why they're going to reject some of us later than others with the same review dates. There's got to be a reason.

Re: Berkeley c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I believe there are 2 faculty reviews, and maybe some people in the 11/22 UR or earlier groups are being held until they begin FR 2. Perhaps FR 2 is a 'weaker' pool and FR 1 gets priority, and as some of those accepted withdraw, they dip into FR 2.
For the 12/12 and later UR group, I'm hanging onto the idea that we WILL NOT be rejected yet and will be put into FR 2. This of course may be a delusional fantasy of mine, but I'm hoping you will concur!

I have withdrawn from 3 schools that I know I will not attend. However, there are 2 schools I gained acceptance to that I know I will not attend but have not withdrawn in the hopes that I can use the financial aid they offer as leverage at the school I want to attend. Since aid might not be offered till march I'm going to be hanging onto these schools till they make their offer. This practice is a problem because it makes withdraws sluggish. So I think that waiting for people to withdraw is going to be a painful way to wait.

Haven't heard anything for a while now, thinking about driving the 5 minutes over to Berkeley and staging a hunger strike for my decision.msblaw89 wrote:All quiet on the western front?

Would they even notice a hunger strike, though? I thought people on hunger strikes at Berkeley were as common as sorority girls on diets.cactuarX3 wrote:Haven't heard anything for a while now, thinking about driving the 5 minutes over to Berkeley and staging a hunger strike for my decision.msblaw89 wrote:All quiet on the western front?

At this point I try my best only to think about Berkeley on Mondays. Tell 'em you'll vote Romney or (gasp!) Paul if they don't give you a decision.tjddk wrote:Would they even notice a hunger strike, though? I went UR on 1/19. No emails about FR. Unless there is a second FR, I think my app. is heading to the rejection pile. Borderline numbers for Berkeley.

I looked back in last year's thread and it seems like VERY few people got FR2 and the one's that did, were URMs.

Non URM here, thank you for making me feel better .. lol. So I guess everyone who went UR on 1/19, and do not have a decision (whatever it is) by now, should be heading to a reject pile (unless the candidate is an URM)? Very sad news for me...johnson.jelly wrote:msblaw89 wrote:I think there will be an FR2moxy wrote:I went UR on 1/19. No emails about FR. UR 11/22 no ding, no FR just silence and misery.
Then again my GPA is so low they are probably enjoying a good laugh courtesy of my app.

Um. Let's keep in mind that 1/19 was only two weeks ago, yeah? 1/19 is probably pretty much everyone who submitted late December, early January -- a peak time -- and they almost definitely can't review all of them in two weeks.moxy wrote:Non URM here, thank you for making me feel better .. lol. (FWIW, I went UR 1/19 as well, and I think I'm generally a good candidate for Berkeley.)

If your LSAT score is great, maybe they should use your LSAT, and my GPA, and we can both get in?masked kavana wrote:UR 11/22 no ding, no FR just silence and misery.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to crush you dreams with my first post, so the second one will make up for it

I think the Jan UR group is actually quite safe, I mean, they JUST got your application a month ago. This sounds horrible, but I think the FR2 is reserved for a SMALL number of people who are exceptional and applied rather late, the 'we like you but not enough' to put you in FR1 so after a few people withdrew we put you in FR2, and URMs for diversity.
YOU, of course are part of the 'exceptional and applied rather late' group and will be telling us about your 1 hour phone conversation with Dean Tom himself

I received an acceptance email this week and had received the "under review" email on the 19th. I really wasn't expecting such quick turnaround but am very pleased.
