Me too! What are you guys wearing? Edit: I'm not trying to create a TLS meetup and creep on your outfits, which I now realize that sounded like, I meant what level of business v casual just to be clear :D my real question is heels vs boots, tbh

Haha I have been debating that same question for the past 24 hours. I'm leaning toward dress pants and heels? It says informal in a couple places, but that just means I talked myself out of a suit :)

I might go crazy and go work dress and flats? but that's just bc im wearing other clothes all day and that'll pack flat in a bag :( I think dress pants/ heels is a safe combo

I just attended the New York one, and my two cents:

1. don't overdress. A button-down with slacks for guys (tie is pushing it unless you're coming straight from work) and for ladies, well, I'm not good at fashion, but I'd give the same advice about heels (pushing it, but work exclusions accepted). I voted for the casual side of "business casual" and did not regret it.

(BTW there is no penalty for over/underdressing -- you've already been accepted -- it's just how you want to feel when you meet fellow admitted students.)

2. Yes, they feed you at these receptions! Not full plated meal, obvi, but you can fill up on the wide selection of hors d'oeuvres.

Fellow reception attendees, agree or disagree!

Toll Applicants, 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know roughly how many people apply to the Toll scholarship each year? I saw someone post a couple pages ago that they extend ~50 interviews, but 50 OUT OF HOW MANY? Anyone wanna speculate with me?

2. What's the deal with the application deadline? I was given two weeks from the time they sent the email to my deadline. Does everyone get only two weeks? Anyone get more than two weeks? Maybe there is "waves" of deadlines? Like all February acceptances have to submit by dd/mm?

Sorry if these questions were addressed somewhere in here earlier - but I'd appreciate any insight!

I'm pretty sure the deadline is two weeks for everyone and that they come in waves. My deadline was Feb. 24, but I saw some people who had Feb. 20 and some who had later.

Wild speculation is fun! Last year Penn had ~5600 applicants. With an acceptance rate somewhere around 20%, that means 1120 people were accepted/Toll eligible. Based on public interest focus of the Toll, the fact that a certain percentage of the class is nominated for a Levy, & the video requirement, i would guess maybe 10-15% of admits submit Toll apps (could be way off base there) which would put us somewhere between ~110 to ~170. and then if somewhere between 40 and 50 people are interviewed
anywhere between ~25% to ~45% of applicants are interviewed. my guess would be it's closer to 15% of applicants apply for it making the interview rate closer to 25% but who knows.

ETA: I had two and a half weeks from Toll email to deadline but I imagine that people who were accepted after the initial email are getting a tightee timeframe.

Has anyone received an interview request for the Toll scholarship yet? Do we know when interviews go out / happen, it would be spectacular if it semi- lined up with admitted students week since we'll already be down there (or at least I will be)

I think adcomm said the 10th was their target for sending out interview invites.
