When is the first ASW? Just thinking that we can expect them to admit a critical mass of students before then (despite the slow cycle)

There are still a bunch of slots open on the 14th, 15th, 16th, and 20th.w0w wrote:Is there any new info on spots avaliable next week after the wave of JS1s yesterday?

They'll do JS2s next Monday. I have a feeling. Also Feb has got to be a huge month for them given the early ASW.

I think they will do a bunch of JS2s next monday and tuesday, as there are no interview slots for those days, when most tuesdays have been interview days in the past.

If interview invites went out yesterday, does this mean they are probably done until the next round, or does each batch usually trickle in throughout the week?

I think JS1s have only been sent Monday this cycle, but I could be wrong.lawapp1 wrote:If interview invites went out yesterday, does this mean they are probably done until the next round, or does each batch usually trickle in throughout the week?
Either way, this cycle is so different timing-wise from previous cycles that I wouldn't expect patterns to hold.

Do we know if there are interviews scheduled for this Friday? I think previous cycles have seen JS2s on Fridays (not that previous cycles are even remotely effective predictors this year).

If there are spots open for later in the week next week I think we will see more JS1s this week.

Sorry to hear that. Makes me a little concerned as a K-JD myself. How did you respond? How should a k-jd respond to questions about not working for a bit?kingpin101 wrote:Just had my JS1 interview. As a K-JD, I became quite sad when the interviewer started

Answer them honestly? There's no magic combination of words that will make a K-JD (like myself) look better than an equal candidate with work experience. Only you know why you want to go to law school, and why you want to go now.Orion311 wrote:Sorry to hear that. Makes me a little concerned as a K-JD myself. How did you respond? There have been JS1s reported every day of the week in the last 1.5 months or so.DetroitRed wrote:I think JS1s have only been sent Monday this cycle, but I could be wrong.lawapp1 wrote:If interview invites went out yesterday, does this mean they are probably done until the next round, or does each batch usually trickle in throughout the week?

Yeah, typically they have been sent on Mondays or Fridays, but they have been reported every other day as well (yesterday was a small wave and it was a Tuesday).w0w wrote:There have been JS1s reported every day of the week in the last 1.5 months or so.DetroitRed wrote:I think JS1s have only been sent Monday this cycle, but I could be wrong.lawapp1 wrote:If interview invites went out yesterday, does this mean they are probably done until the next round, or does each batch usually trickle in throughout the week?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Of all the JS1 waves (11 so far), there were multiple waves in one week only twice. So, past experiences would say there probably won't be another this week, however since there are available interview slots for next week there's a high likelihood. My guess is this afternoon/tmrw.lawapp1 wrote:If interview invites went out yesterday, does this mean they are probably done until the next round, or does each batch usually trickle in throughout the week?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
That's really bizarre. I'm so sorry it happened, but for those other K-JD applicants, I want to echo jimmymac. I had JS for my JS1, as well, and she didn't mention my K-JD as a marker of lack of experience whatsoever. Interviews are super individualized, I guess. I think there's a way you can preemptively address it in an early question (hopefully the interview doesn't start with that, on their end) and state why going to law school right now is so vital to your career path, acknowledging any lack of experience but stating you're ready for a legal framework for your ideas and passions.kingpin101 wrote:JSjimmymac wrote:really? who was your interviewer?kingpin101 wrote:Just had my JS1 interview. Same here. I didn't have JS, but I never felt that my k-JD status was being used against me during the interview, even when it did come up in conversation.

It seems like there have been a lot of KJD's interviewed so far (although probably also just the fact that the conversation is about KJDs so it fits). Interesting, given how much of the entering class is non-KJD.

had my interview today with JS, she didn't even ask why law or why harvard at all (or anything remotely close to that, the only thing i can think of is she did ask me if I will be willing to do some legal work related to my STEM major..), questions are indeed very individualized, very much focused on what I did during my undergrad and 1 year out of school, so I talked about lots of things that are not on my resume. then she gave me a lot of time to ask her question.. overall i think it went okay, she does care a lot about experiences, (instead of personal stories), at least i dont think she grilled me on my lack of experience.
ETA: PM me if you need more details, hope this helps!
ETA2: I thoroughly enjoyed talking to her, and i believe she knows exactly what kind of information she needs in advance!

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I interviewed in the last few days and have to say, I'm feeling really grateful HLS interviews and wishing more schools did...the interviewer had some misconceptions about my app/background and it was so great to be able to clarify in the conversation. Made me wonder how often that happens with other schools (at least once softs count, anyway). Also, as a non-KJD, my UG didn't come up at all, which kind of surprised me, but the conversation did still last a full 15-20 minutes. They find lots to talk about! Relatedly, I got a question I hadn't heard before (but maybe I haven't reviewed the interview threads too closely). Feel free to PM if you're curious.
