They are places I would be happy with at least till I'm ready to have kids. I want to do Ag law. I don't think I want to stay in FL. I do understand the distribution, but with a avg. starting salary of 65,000 for UF and FSU, I might as well just stay in engineering.

Should've been T25's, and T50's w/ higher starting salary. Sorry.

Good engineering jobs are also hard to come by and no guarantee that they'd pay you more.

Scotti: I do want to go to law school, but I still have to be able to make a living with it and pay off my loans. At most other schools of their caliber I should be able to get $$, but UF isn't really known for throwing out schollys.

If you're not at a T14, starting at $65k would generally be a good outcome ITE, so I think you may need to readjust your expectations.

Grey: It's bad. Not horrible for engineering at UF, but its low. I only think it's a slight possibility because I have crazy softs. And I don't really think I have a shot, but I'd kill myself if I didn't try.

Do you have crazy softs relative to the average HYS students though? A 2.9 is a 2.9.

Yes. My softs are over the average HYS.

I have already had offers for good engineering jobs that pay more than I would most likely get coming out of UF law. But I would be happier in ag law.

Mind sharing softs? I think it would depend on what your softs are. Unique softs can make a difference especially if your lsat is high.

Yes engineering. That's half the reason most of my softs are unique. The other reason is because I grew up on a farm. And I have a laundry list of extracurriculars. Lots of leadership positions. Several things I started new at the university or within my clubs. Research and internships, plus jobs all the way through. Two published works. And I know my GPA sucks. I never intended on going back to school for something where my GPA would matter, but now here I am.

Sounds somewhat similar to me. As someone from STEM with a similar GPA, from a small farm community, etc. ad nauseum I can say your softs likely are not going to matter nearly as much as you think they will, and definitely not enough for HYS. They seemed to get me a *slight* boost at the one T14 I applied to, but not enough to be thinking HYS!

My bad, I didn't read it all I just saw "above average HYS softs" and 2.9.

That being said, don't assume you have to do UF or FSU exclusively. Your GPA won't limit you if you get a good enough LSAT.

I think you're also going to get less helpful advice on here because of the specific field you want to go into and the fact that most of us are clueless with respect to Ag law

I think you'd have to look into how many jobs are available in the field and how employers go about hiring and if it's something you can realistically expect to get into

Biglaw is easy to give advice about since hiring is a streamlined system and there are certain schools where biglaw is a very reasonable expectation to have going in

When so many graduates from even top schools are unemployed, I'd be cautious of placing all your eggs in one basket though. Every school has an international law program, but that doesn't mean that they can then get students jobs in international law.

Well ag law really includes all kinds of random things besides just environmental. It's pretty broad. So I feel like I would have several decent options if I cant necessarily get an "ag" law job. You just have to learn how to word it for the people that don't understand ag. Same thing with my undergrad degree. So I'm pretty used to it by now.

Yea I understand, but what I'm saying is that falls out of the scope of how people typically get hired really. I think you'd need to talk to students at schools you end up looking at and getting the truth. Talking to the school's themselves is almost useless tbh. Obviously they will all say yea, come here, of course we'll get you an Ag law job.

Try to see students pursuing the same thing and see how they went about it and how feasible it is. I wouldn't really trust people working in the field either, unless it's someone guaranteeing you a job.

Well Disneyland is specific enough since the one in Florida is Disneyworld.
I don't know. It's more of a pet peeve than anything. I don't know any Californians who say Cali and I always cringe when outsiders do.
ETA: Disneyland sucks. Always go with Disneyworld if given a choice.
