They didn't even give me a WL. Heart broken.

Congratulations!truckstop wrote:In via status checker! I was surprised because I had gotten so used to just seeing "Complete."

I didn't. I kept thinking about submitting one late but never did.barrelofmonkeys wrote:Congratulations!truckstop wrote:In via status checker! I was surprised because I had gotten so used to just seeing "Complete."

In past years, a Darrow invite basically guaranteed a Darrow. My recollection is that in TLS history, there's been one case of a Darrow invite getting only a half-tuition scholarship, but all other invites have gotten fulls. (This is based on incomplete research, and unrepresentative sample and all, but still.)persephone123 wrote:Anyone know numbers for Darrow interviewees / Darrow scholarships awarded. I had my interview last week and am curious what the odds are that I will receive the scholarship. Thanks!

ON THE OTHER HAND, this is the first year that Michigan is having interviews instead of essays for the Darrow. BUT so far I don't think anyone has reported being turned down for the scholarship after having an interview. Of course, we're still early in the process so that could change.
TL;DR: You're in good shape. Try not to worry about it too much.

I am curious about this too. My best guess is that schools are focusing more on softs now that hard numbers are down. More attention (reading and rereading) is probably being given to the PS, resume, and LORs.yossarian71 wrote:I mean, we know that the applicant pool was a little hard to predict this year. Asking genuinely, not trying to complain. Do people think Michigan's applicant pool is that far off what they projected? What is going on?!?
Maybe our decisions are taking longer not because they are on the fence about admitting us, but are debating how much $$ to offer us.vuthy wrote:+1albs18 wrote:Still at COMPLETE. Was one of those that received the "we are sort this is taking so long" emails......Frustrated.
As much as I hated UVA's and Columbia's "don't bother checking the checker" approach at the start, I actually have come to appreciate it more now. And by contrast, the "magical" Michigan checker, which "updates" every day, ends up being like a dripping faucet in the middle of the night.
I would actually think it's the opposite. If numbers are down and schools are concerned about maintaining medians, then softs should factor less into the equation than they did previously.albs18 wrote:I am curious about this too. Yup. Michigan's takes longer to receive because it's magical and updates itself every day.guyfox wrote:Soo I applied to Michigan on 2/7 (it was a last minute decision) and on LSAC it says everything is complete and the report was sent, but it's been 10 days and I still haven't received an email confirming that they received my application/giving me access to a status checker. Is this normal? All the other schools I applied to I got the status checker info the next day or so. :/
