Withdrawn. I will be attending Texas in the fall. Hopefully this opens up a spot and some $$$ for those of you on the waitlist. Good luck to all.

I'm wondering the same thing.JXander wrote:Has anyone been admitted recently without receiving a phone call (therefore, receiving notification via email or snail mail)?
Decision mailed 5/14 and I'm wondering if not having received a phone call means it is definitely either a WL or Ding, or if they accept without calls.

This makes six schools that put me on the wait list. It looks like having gone to a non-traditional undergrad institution that didn't provide grades makes it hard to interpret my file. I've withdrawn from many of the places that wait listed me, but I'll be staying on for this one.
Here are details about me for reference -
Applied: March 15, 2013
Received: March 15, 2013
Complete: March 20, 2013
Decision, Wait List: May 14 (sent), May 17 (received) - came by physical mail.
LSAT: 166
UGPA: N/A - attended an undergrad institution that did not grant grades
Non-traditional: 9 years post-undergrad work experience

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Have you maxed out your retakes? You only have one number, so you should make it as good as possible before giving up! Also, you might do better by applying in September or October this coming cycle instead of March, although there seems to be some debate on TLS about just how much of a bump you really get by applying earlier than normal.
ETA: I just saw that you're from Virginia. If you were to bump your score to a 169 or 170, you should be in pretty good shape for UVA and maybe even some scholarship. Think about it, that's basically just answering three or four more questions right on a 100+ question exam!

Lots of waitlist movement in the T14 today. Any predictions on when Vandy will make some waitlist offers?

I would think that we will see a lot at the beginning of June. Unfortunately Vandy's waitlist is probably one of the hardest to get accepted from since their class size is so small.VandyorNothing wrote:Lots of waitlist movement in the T14 today. I just checked ABA to confirm this, and I was truly surprised. I did not know its class size was that minuscule.TheThriller wrote:I would think that we will see a lot at the beginning of June. I suspect it will be a while before WL movement, because its app deadline was 4/1, one of the latest of any top school's.

Yeah the class size is pretty small, but according to my interviewer, who was a recent Vandy law grad, a significant portion of the class does get in off the waitlist. Let's hope it's even more this year!

They won't be taking many though -- They've decided to cut their class size even more. It fell from 200, to about 175 last year, and there's talk that they will be cutting even further. Seems to me like it'd hurt them more, but then again, who knows.

When I talked to an admissions director they said they were aiming for a number in the 190s. Whether 170 or 190, the class size is tiny compared to a lot of schools. Wait list movement may very well end up being smaller than peer schools, but there's no reason to let that get you discouraged. It's not August, yet!

Actually, last year only 173 enrolled. Here's a link to a table that shows the number of enrolled students over the past few years; you can see that the Class of 2015 was abnormally low at 173.JXander wrote:Last year, 193 applicants matriculated.pkep03216 wrote:They won't be taking many though -- They've decided to cut their class size even more. First, that graph shows 174, not 173.SouthernMiss wrote:Actually, last year only 173 enrolled. Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
Woops, you're right. I'm in the class of 2015 and know the 173 number off the top of my head because one student withdrew mid-year, but you're right, the class was 174 to begin with, and I did not actually read the chart =P Idk if there's a difference between matriculation and enrollment, I guess maybe some people commit to enroll and then don't enroll last-minute? Like, buttheads who sign up/send seat deposits for multiple schools? Either way, I meant to add that my very anecdotal impression is that the smaller class size for class of 2015 was sort of a fluke, not a planned departure from the established trend. But whatever. May the odds be ever in your favor, y'all.JXander wrote:First, that graph shows 174, not 173.SouthernMiss wrote:JXander wrote:Last year, 193 applicants matriculated.pkep03216 wrote:They won't be taking many though -- They've decided to cut their class size even more. http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... index.aspxSecond, my number came from the most recent ABA data. Is there a difference between "matrics" and "enrolled?" I know this really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I am rather confused at this point.

No, there's a difference between the class of 2014 and the class of 2015.JXander wrote:First, that graph shows 174, not 173.SouthernMiss wrote:Actually, last year only 173 enrolled. This graph: http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... index.aspx indicates that class of 2014 had 194, class of 2015 had 174. If you scroll down, there's a link to the full page for each entering class; confusingly, the full page for class of 2015 says 173. But I'm not sure what you mean by your comment, since either way we have correctly ascertained that the most recent class (2015) was significantly lower at 173 or 174 than the previous classes, incl. 2014 which was 194.

Yeah, I mean, I get wanting to know 190ish vs. 170ish, but 173 vs. 174 is just splitting hairs IMHO. Like I said, I'm in that class, and I don't even know 100% if it's 173 or 174, though I suppose I could sit down and figure it out if I had to. But yeah, whatever, seriously.RetakeFrenzy wrote:http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=vanderbiltSouthernMiss wrote:This graph: http://law.vanderbilt.edu/prospective-s ... index.aspx indicates that class of 2014 had 194, class of 2015 had 174.
