Oh, Cornell...and to think I rushed to get you my Dean Cert so that I wouldn't take forever to go complete. Silly, naive me.

You're right. Probably at least another month before I'm complete. Seems Cornell can't handle the 20K applicants. It's ok...it's worth the wait

Do they also send you an email once they start processing? Because I remember receiving an email from them but it was way too soon. No way it could have been the "complete" email.

They send a "we received your app" email right off the bat, which is probably was you received. That includes the status checker info and is all you receive until you are complete.

So I hate to double post but I'm just about ready to send off my Cornell App and noticed that in the application instructions they stress that it must be written by an academic who has taught you.

My first letter is written by an academic who has taught me.
My second was written by an academic at the same university who has not taught me, but who has worked closely with me over the years(I would say she knows me as well or better than the first one)

I don't want to wait until January to get back to school and hunt down LORs if there's any way this is acceptable.

Anyone else had this experience here?

I was accepted EA, and my first letter was written by an academic who never taught me, but whom I worked for for a year. I think that you should talk to your recommender directly about this, maybe even send her a couple samples of your work so that she can evaluate your academic side a bit.

I applied on 10/30, went Under Review on 11/16, was considered EA until 12/12 when they asked for a Deans Certification letter. Cornell is torturing me! Still no decision and under review as of 1/4.

Also In Processing 1/11, updated from IP 1/5. I was complete and submitted before the EA opportunity.

Does last year's round of the admissions cycle mean anything to Cornell? I mean, I made it to the final summer waitlist last time, and since then have taken extra classes, worked at a law firm, participated in community service, and the like. Do they even pull up last year's file?

It's the standard rate for apartments in my building. It's probably higher because it also includes free covered parking, shuttle, and gym membership.

yeah, living in college town is expensive. If I went to Cornell I would probably rent a house downtown.
I've been living in Phoenix for the last two years and holy god I will miss the huge, brand new apartments with every amenity you can think of included for super, super cheap. The one good thing about Phoenix (okay, the winter is awesome, too).
