Waitlisted via email. Didn't expect much better than that, since I'd been waiting several months at DP.

wait listed today
For reals, do people get off the wait list or is it time I cut my losses and reapply next year?

W&M has historically been overall comparable but slightly less respected than W&L. But with W&L's new 3L legal practice program, which most people think is a joke (dean who got the idea for the program actually left W&L for presidency at Furman), W&M rose in rankings over W&L. W&M average private practice salary and job placement % are much higher than those of W&L now.akili wrote:What do you think about W&M vs. W&L? Are they comparable?

I don't have super great softs.. just some non-profit volunteer work and part-time work. I am also working part-time right now at a health center. I am Asian... maybe not that many asians attend W&M?

Re: William & Mary
Phat 14, I am not sure what you are trying to say - we are all jsut sharing opinions here, thats all.
It is a fact that W&L plunged in rankings because of scepticism from judges and academia on their 3L program.
W&L's approach towards new program smacks off a Cooley type ranking system. W&L says: "100 years ago Harvard U developed an approach towards legal education that has become a standard for all law schools. Today, W&L insititutes the first revision to this approach which we expect to be appreciated and emulated by other institutions". Basically, they are on track to be the new HLS. What a load of ____

I'm assuming you're an URM, you should include that fact if you are going to post your stats because it changes everything.
And sorry if I sound pissed off in this thread, I'm just starting to worry that I'm not going to get into a single school, really thought I would at least get WLed at W&M.

FYI: If you want to withdraw, log into the Admitted Students site and fill out the online Statement of Intention form. It's really easy.

Pulling that out of your ass? W&L has been declining since before the new 3L program. Not that US News reveals the reasons for rank changes anyway.APHill wrote:

Well, their Judge/Lawyer academic rating did fall from 3.9 to 3.8. While a minor drop, it very much could have been the reason they fell from 25 to 30. However, their previous decline was also minor, and really within the realm of what could/should be expected given their numerical point score.T14_Scholly wrote:Pulling that out of your ass? You may assume whatever you wish. My admission to W&M and consideration at Cornell means that the adcoms actually do look past numbers...You have to think about what I had in my package to make them even consider admitting me with my stats...autoding wrote:mhernton wrote:2.2/155 admit here, must be a lot of pissed off people...chicoalto0649 wrote:It seems like the only options this year are W/L or acceptance...well not really....I wonder what the people who got outright rejected are thinking when they see someone with your stats (seriously NO offense/you musta done something great in your app to get there in the first place) ....cbliang wrote:Didn't expect a WL.
