I submitted through the form on the MyColumbia portal and did not receive confirmation. Oh, now I'm worried it didn't go through.

So I just called the admissions office because you all freaked me out, and they were super nice. They mentioned that they've been really behind on emails and were still getting responses out. In my case they had received my notice that I was accepted to the SIPA Masters in International Affairs, but could not find the LOCI I sent. They asked that I forward the original message to them. So...for what that's worth I'm really glad I called. But if you all call and do the same thing please wait for like an hour, I don't want to get blamed for a flood of calls to the admissions dept

After an interesting process I found out that I was put on reserve eons ago. Very excited for that news given my chances to begin with. But still concerned I never got an email.

So to those that submitted early and never heard a word. Maybe you too have a situation similar to mine. PM for details.

First poster here. So I'm obviously not the only one who has yet to hear back from Columbia, but I have a few questions for anyone with any insight. Basically Columbia is a reach for me. My other reach, NYU, rejected me almost a month ago. I was sort of expecting to hear the same thing from Columbia shortly thereafter, but instead, nothing. Is there any reason they would be saving my application if it was a presumptive reject? I feel like the long wait is giving me false hope. Also, I got not interview request. Are all decisions transmitted by email? I know some schools do acceptance by email and rejections by mail.

At this point i don't even really care. I am into my favorite school that I visited and the only thing preventing me from putting a deposit down is the fact that I still haven't heard from Columbia and the fact that Columbia is ranked higher is preventing me from just withdrawing, obviously.

Anyway, are my false hopes founded in any logic, or am I just as likely to be rejected now as I was in February.

My application went complete on 1/17.

I don't want to give you false hope but I am in a very similar situation with my reaches. I went complete on 1/20 and I was waitlisted this week. I thought for sure I would be rejected

Got put in the reserve group this morning. Sigh. Oh well, I've had a good cycle so far.

Are waitlists done through e-mail? Making only denials done through mail?

Would anyone who has been waitlisted/reserve mind telling me their stats?

That's surprising. Honestly I haven't been following the Columbia thread very closely, so I was just going off of my general LS application knowledge.

Who is strong enough to get a Hamilton without even interviewing? A 4.0/180 astronaut?
Assure you I am none of these things and (would bet) none of the others are either. Impression I had is that at least half of the Hamiltons on TLS didn't interview. Why? No freaking clue. Columbia's just weird like that.

Maybe Hamilton offers are more common than we think. It could be that there are few Hamilton Scholars at Columbia, but half of the people at HYS turned it down.
