Any chance they've admitted certain students with the intention that such students pay sticker?

I'm a reverse splitter who still got aid and they had to know that they would be one of my only top options.whereskyle wrote:Any chance they've admitted certain students with the intention that such students pay sticker?

I'm glad you opened a spot up for someone more interested, but "cry babies" seemed a little unnecessary.CaptainTroll wrote:Just turned down a full tuition scholly from UVA and withdrew. That is how bad I do not want to live in Virginia. Hope one of you cry babies gets my spot. Good luck everyone... or as they say in Virgina, "Y'all."

Sorry to pester, is this the best place to coordinate open house stuff, or is there a better thread?

It might. Probably won't be successful unless you have leverage.1239152 wrote:any chance that negotiating for more than 105k already offered might work?

What does it mean for us who applied early (sep 20) and heard absolutely nothing since? Just wondering if I should withdraw or wait it out?

Decision Date graph for last year says that most decisions will be given before March is through and that admits are more likely at the start of the month.kcam1991 wrote:What does it mean for us who applied early (sep 20) and heard absolutely nothing since? Re: UVA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I was admitted a few days ago following an LOCI.
Submitted on 11/19, no word for more than 3 months. Submitted a Why UVA in late January. And submitted a LOCI at the end of Feb. Was admitted 2 days later.
If you suspect you are being held at UVA for YP reasons, LOCI is definitely the way to go. Seriously. Several other posters did that and got in promptly.

How promptly? If I sent in a LOCI mid last week and haven't heard anything is it safe to assume I wasn't YP'd?wisteria wrote:I was admitted a few days ago following an LOCI.

Very frustrating, but I like UVA enough to wait it out.
FWIW My first deposit is now due April 30 for UVA, so no $ for me (unless it's miraculously in the letter coming my way). Sigh. I seem to be hitting juuuuust below predicted $ across the board this cycle. Must be the GPA.

Dear UVA, I sincerely regret getting my application out to you so late, though you were always one of my top choices, and if I get in, I will visit right away. Please show me some love.

You still may get $$ from the committee meeting after the first deposit deadline. If they don't know whether they are going to give you money yet, they wouldn't force you to commit by the earlier deadline. I wouldn't give up hope!twinkletoes16 wrote:Jaqen wrote:It seems like they've simply stopped mentioning $ in the acceptance calls. And I was hoping it meant that they're updating and we'd be hearing a response later either UR or maybe an actual decision.WokeUpInACar wrote:Yup... This just further confirms that MVP all hate me.Rlabo wrote:Has anyone else been having trouble with their status checker today?

Does anyone know if UVA is doling any more merit $ out before the second week of April (which is what an open house/scholarship email from Anne Richards said)? I thought I remembered Faulk say there would be another wave in March during my admittance phone call, but now I can't remember...

I hope so! Otherwise it will make attending ASW in a few weeks tough to justifytestaker wrote:Does anyone know if UVA is doling any more merit $ out before the second week of April (which is what an open house/scholarship email from Anne Richards said)?
