I got dinged from the PI scholly today but I was offered 75k instead.

Congrats! When did BU accept you (I'm trying to determine if a wave of scholarships are on the way)? Also, I suppose you'll be making your way to that reception then.

I think they might be getting ready to send out a wave of scholarships. I got an email this week asking me to clarify something on my FAFSA because they were finalizing my financial aid. Sounded like it would be out soon.

So to clarify, to get merit $$ at this stage in the game, we need to have FAFSA filled out and sent to BU? I got in about two weeks ago, but with no mention of aid at the time. Obviously I'd like to change this...

Also, would BU see ND and U of Illinois' as peers for negotiation purposes?

I was accepted last week and received merit aid. My FAFSA was filled out, but not my need access. Also, it came with my acceptance package.

I just emailed them intending to just ask a question about need based aid, but couldn't help myself and also asked what was going on with merit aid. I was admitted in the first week of December and just want to get this process moving along.

Financial aid. Maybe should have tried admissions, but they wouldn't have had the answers for my need aid question. I was polite about it, just asked if I should keep my eyes out for any offers or should anticipate paying sticker price.

BU is a great school, but with those numbers and your URM status you could be looking at big time money (I would imagine full rides) at a handful of T14 schools.

Thanks for the encouragement. I applied late in the cycle (Jan-Feb) and I figured BU/BC were good "safety" full ride schools (which sounds super pretentious). Oddly I haven't heard back from either of them and have already gotten into higher ranked schools that I applied to weeks later, so go figure...

If you've already gotten into the T14 with a good sized scholarship (say half or more), I think it's safe to withdraw the Boston apps. Totally depends on you and your situation though.

Yeah, it really depends on scholarship money. So far, not enough T14 scholarship money. If by some miracle I got into a super reach dream school (Harvard or Yale), I would take out the loans in a heartbeat. If not, it will be much more difficult to weigh rank vs. $$$.

I received merit aid with my admission packet - non-URM. That being said, there is a 99.9% chance that I will be withdrawing - makes sense for someone else to get that money, right? Isn't that why they would trickle down some more merit aid later or am I missing something?

Did you originally apply ED and then were bumped into the RD pool? It also seems those that applied ED and then were later accepted RD have yet to receive scholarship news.
