+100 to everything said in the last 3-4 pages of this thread (especially the cats!)

Really wish I was in NYC this weekend for binge drinking - purple envelope or no envelope (preferably with envelope).

Same here! Every time someone's asked me where I've heard from in the last couple days I keep saying NYU silently in my head after the other ones because I don't want to say something that's not true. And I'm in Cali, so since NYC people don't have their letters yet mine should be here in about a month.

Also I'm super excited about ASW now with all this talk going on (provided all these decision letters are what we think they are). It'll be so exciting to put faces to names. I can see people just awkwardly walking up to someone else and asking, "Hey are you one of the TLSers?" I think lolcat should be the code word.

I've told some people that I might have gotten into NYU--everyone is super confused.

No, we would all wear something inconspicuous, like purple berets or violet nail polish.

+1 i am going to be so fucking embarrassed if i'm wrong...
It's more embarrassing for everyone to know NYU is your dream and you have to keep saying "didn't hear anything ... yet... other people did.. so far..." womp womp :(

Definitely no better way to make a good impression than to walk around whispering "lolcat" to everyone you meet!

Polite smile, followed by a muttering of, "Those TLS kids are weird..."

i agree, and i think the fact that there also are 11/15 time travelers floating around supports this. seems to me that 11/15, 12/3, and 12/6 correspond to dates when an admissions decision was made, but then all of these letters were sent out in a collective, single stack - probably to begin showing up in nyc mailboxes today...

As with every day this week <sigh>, my working-from-home girlfriend has strict instructions to let me know if anything is in the mail as soon as it arrives (usually around 12:30p ET). As soon as it comes, I'll let everyone know if there's anything fun and purple in there...

<3 you guys
Planning on drinking? I've been way past the planning stage for the last... 2-3 months.
Well I met in a social, meetup fashion. But that works too!
Oh lord, now I feel like an alcoholic. And a loner.
Come to East Lansing and we can drink together :)

Okay, I feel GOOD about today (for the 12/3-ers) and tomorrow for us 12/6-ers. Otherwise, I'm jumping on that drinking bandwagon this weekend.

I honestly think both groups will get theirs today (in NYC at least). If the purple envelopes went to the NYU mail people Friday afternoon (which I imagine they would have given the time of the updates), the earliest they could have been sent out is Monday (and obviously they didn't) since perhaps they have fewer people or no one sending stuff out on weekends.

Probably totally wrong, but I'm just trying to justify us 12/6ers getting news today!

Well if they follow last year's pattern of 12/1 postmarked & most people receiving their letters 12/7, then today SHOULD be the day for 12/3'ers.

Dear god I hope so. I've been going crazy this ENTIRE WEEK.

<3 you guys for making me not feel quite so lame :)

I won't be checking my mail until 5 again, unless someone gets a purple envelope and I decide to run to check between classes in freezing weather...

Don't forget the 11/19 time travelers! :D (checker updated 12/6) I think you're right about everything going out together (or at least I hope so). I would love to get a letter this week, but I'm on the west coast...

Yes, I think it's totally going to be today for both groups. Or if it's only 12/3ers today, I'm taking tomorrow off from work. Feeling a little ill <cough, cough>...

Nothing like a day off to sit and stare at the mailbox until there's mail in it!

Is it bad that I've had to take something (or have a little night cap) in order to sleep these days? It's the anticipation and suspense! I think I'm going crazy... but apparently y'all are too.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
