Meanwhile, my UR status updated (for the first time) to 12/17. Since the file has to be reviewed by two faculty members, this date is probably the second member's review.
Same for me. Went complete on 11/3, status updated today to "under committee review."
I submitted in October and kind of hoped I'd hear by now.
Also, what do YP and LOCI mean?
YP = yield protection. Meaning a school W/L an applicant because the school believes the student will get in to a higher school and not attend there.
LOCI = letter of continued interest. This shows schools you are really interested in them, and will get you off a YP W/L...
No school I know of admits to YP. We just all believe they do it.
W/L = waitlist.

Penn is typically a YP poster boy / girl, but maybe this year will be different. No blatant YPs yet, except maybe BaiAiliian.

Penn is the Sgt Schulz to my Col. Hogan:
Me (Hogan):"What's up with my admissions?"
Penn (Schultz): "I know nothing."

This one kind of worries me though because it's a school I would definitely be interested in if admitted. I guess I'm going to be finding another recommender and writing another essay over Christmas.
Sorry to hear yall. I'm scared. My numbers are right in that range.

Really makes me sad because Penn was one of my top choices.. but I cannot go there without scholarship. Being held cannot bode well for my chances at money.

So, the e-mail made it sound like they are just waiting for our Fall grades and they will decide on us soon, but the status checker says we are being held and wishes us well in the coming MONTHS. Should we expect decisions relatively soon, or was that e-mail code for "see you in March, suckers"

Those of you who were held, you were ED? It doesn't seem like the sort of thing they'd do to RD, since it's pretty much a given that they're reviewing us further unless they've given a decision or requested fall grades.
This is separate from the WL, I guess?

I'm RD and I was held.
I was afraid of that. It just seems so unnecessarily negative of them. I mean, I assume since I've heard nothing from them aside from a UCR date update that they're reviewing me further, and I would guess y'all would be the same. Ugh. So sorry for you.

All y'all should say and do that (including those of you who have been waitlisted, accepted, or not received any decision).
I thank you.

People like you are the reason why Penn practices YP.

I am trying to get some information and I cannot find it, so.. does any one know from previous cycles, etc. what the liklihood of getting accepted after being "Held" is, also it would be really helpful to see if any ultimately accepted received scholarships..

You dont want to be held. You want them to accept you for who you are and embrace you with open arms.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
