Re: BC 2012-2013 Applicants
Who else is thinking of putting deposits down at both BC and BU? They have the same first and second deposit deadlines (April 15 and June 1) and both have offered me substantial scholarships, with BU offering just a little bit more right now. I was thinking of contacting them both for negotiations now, seeing what they offer, then seeing if any more money gets released in the six weeks or so between the two deadlines as well. Thoughts?

Didn't even think of that, I'm such a bad Catholic.

They are cutting it too close to deposit deadlines. I don't like that.
Also, BU's employment numbers are better than BC's this year?

BC Fed Clerkship 2.3% + BigLaw 25.4% = 27.7% http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=bcdkb17xzx wrote:RetakeFrenzy wrote:+1uconjak wrote:I have not heard on a schoolly from BC, got 75k from BU, i am wondering what is the holdup

BU Fed Clerkship 4.8% + BigLaw 27.1% = 31.9% http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=bu
Of course, it's just one year... but BC's recent trend is a worrying development.

Agreed but BC has a significantly lower school funded rate. I dont think this is a trend but of course i wish the #s were a little better. Still, the low school unfunded rate is nice for transparency.RetakeFrenzy wrote:BC Fed Clerkship 2.3% + BigLaw 25.4% = 27.7% http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=bcdkb17xzx wrote:RetakeFrenzy wrote:+1uconjak wrote:I have not heard on a schoolly from BC, got 75k from BU, i am wondering what is the holdup

I think it's worth noticing that BU's unknown percentage is 3x more than BC. With numbers that are so close, and have been close for years, the employment score changes seem inconsequential.

Yeah, to a greater extent, its'
BC wins in Boston + Ropes
BU wins in US +Goodwin (edge in government/PI)
BC's Boston preference may be self-selection, because BU definitely attracts a more diverse and "National/International" student body
I may be off here, but recent trends seem to dictate this

Another positive, although it's not a metric I like to focus on because it addresses more of a worst case scenario, but BC's overall employment score adjusted for the difference in school-funded positions is still better by 10%.
On another note, I see that both BC and BU have had drops in class sizes for c/o 2015 down to 245 and 210, respectively. I am really hoping BC shrinks their class size again to a number closer to 200. Given that Boston is such an insular market and BC's reputation within it, a smaller class size could directly translate into a rise in employment numbers.

Anyone want to discuss law school decisions? Just want to bounce some ideas around regarding some schools vs. others and the like, but I'd rather do it over PM than in the "Choosing a Law School" forum.
Lemme know if interested.

What's the typical wait time between an admittance and scholly info? I know BC hasn't released info for the majority of applicants until recently - I'm just wondering if there is a timeline or pattern to it.

Re: BC 2012-2013 Applicants
I'm thinking that many of you, like me, probably have similar offers from BC and BU (as well as from other similarly ranked schools). With the same two seat deposit deadlines (4/15 and 6/1), who else is planning on putting deposits down at both schools with the hope that more money may be released between the two deadlines? For me easily the biggest factor in all of this is the bottom line cost of attendance figure, and having seen and liked both schools, and with them being so similar in many respects, whichever school gives me a better offer is where I'm going to attend. What are all your thoughts on this?

Called today about need based aid. They said they should be sending out Agora logins in "the next few days," and that we should be able to see need based info there "before the deadline." They are clearly scrambling to get on track. Wonder what went wrong this year to throw things off so much.
