Re: South Texas 2011
thanks guys. I'm sick right now and work's super busy, so the last thing that I want to do right now is deal with more paperwork, but I'll get this filled out asap.TT09 wrote:+1. I believe the "deadline" to fill out both of those is May 2.kayexpoee wrote:Beestinga wrote:Soooo...I filled out the FAFSA and listed STCL as a school that I wanted them to send my information on to. Do I also need to fill out a financial aid app with STCL? I thought that the FAFSA was the only thing that I needed to do, right?
I got email notification of acceptance last Thursday - still no word from financial aid.
I called and asked and even though I haven't heard anything yet the guy from financial aid said to send in the New Student Application and the TEG application. Those are both found in the Financial Aid section of the website. Hope this helps!

These on-road emissions inventories aren't going to prepare themselves, y'know!

you only had to do the affidavit if you are not US citizen or permanent resident.FutureLitigator27 wrote:Did you guys actually have the TEG form notarized?

You had to sign the affidavit for not being a permanent resident? Or is it just for illegal aliens?

if you answered yes to questions 1-3 on Part C but no to question 4, you had to fill out the affidavit (look right under where your signature is)Mce252 wrote:lucygirl wrote:you only had to do the affidavit if you are not US citizen or permanent resident.FutureLitigator27 wrote:Did you guys actually have the TEG form notarized?

I guess I should read the instructions next time.

I went to campus today to drop off my seat deposit and got a tour from a current 1L that I met a couple months ago. From what I could tell: the building is mostly older, courtrooms are very nice, terrace on the roof is pretty cool, mostly white students, admissions office people are very nice, and I was able to park on the street a block away and nearby parking garage is $60 a month. Its nothing like U Colorado campus/building, but I can see myself spending three years there.

Mostly White? Was that comment necessary?

I also thought this was a really bizarre and inappropriate observation.andrewb414 wrote:FutureLitigator27 wrote:

what did you expect from someone who was considering U Colorado. Now that campus is mostly white.

You guys can act offended all you want. I was simply surprised there were very few minority students. I went to UH for undergrad and Caucasian people were usually outnumbered. I also saw a family of muslims wearing burkas walking down the street, oops, did I offend someone again?

I think the issue taken with your statement was that in it's original context the "mostly white students" was placed among your list of perceived positive attributes such as ample parking, nice courtrooms, etc...
Easy to backtrack and try to say, "All I said was there were mostly white students." However when one goes back to the original statement, you have to admit there was more behind those words.

I lol'd. The post was true, the school does have a majority of white students. However, there is a heavily involved black student law association and an asian law student association so no one will feel left out.
Also, our profs told us that the curve this fall will be moving up. They haven't decided to what though.

Re: South Texas 2011
I withdrew today--I was very, very sad, and quite possibly shed a tear. My other options are but a fraction of STCL's cost, and because I want to open my own firm and I have significant family obligations, I can't carry the debt. Withdrawing STCL was harder than from other schools. I certainly hope my spot goes to one of you fine TLS'ers! Every person with which I interacted only increased my interest in the school...each and every one of you attending will have a wonderful education and experience, without a doubt. I wish I could join you, but my career goals and family situation just cannot justify the pricetag. Each of us will, in the end, attend the law school that is right for our individual situations...I know that whoever takes my spot will deserve the opportunity, 100%! Congrats to everyone! We made it to law school! See you at the TX bar!

STCL is mostly white? I am kind of ...miffed? by that? CU Boulder being mostly white was one of my big turnoffs with it.

Still on app complete today! Limbo is still better than a rejection, though, so I'll keep telling myself to be patient!

Re: South Texas 2011
So,
I got accepted last Thursday. I just, today, sent in my financial aid paperwork, but I haven't gotten anything from the school offering me money.
Should I take this to mean that they're not offering me money? Or do they need my FA paperwork before they make an offer?
Between loans and slowly siphoning money out of the rest of you (via my magic bean business - these things are great, you guys're gonna love 'em), I'll probably be able to swing full price, but I sure as hell would rather not if I don't absolutely have to.

Are you talking about scholarship money or your financial aid package? If you haven't gotten any at this point, I would guess that you probably aren't receiving scholarship money.

Did they send scholarship stuff out w/acceptance letters? even to ppl that hadn't filled out the new student FA paperwork?
