What do you guys think of negotiating more aid? Didn't originally get anything, then negotiated a small scholarship. Would trying to negotiate more be annoying/pushing it?

If you don't ask, you aren't going to get anything. Has anything in your "portfolio" of offers changed? Has any other school increased a scholarship offer? If not, I think the ask gets a bit more difficult, but you could always phrase it in a way that acknowledges that you really would like to go to BC, appreciate the initial scholarship amount and inquire whether it would be possible for BC to increase the scholarship (it is highly likely that some of the applicants with scholarship offers have subsequently withdrawn and chosen not to attend, freeing up additional scholarship money).ylnechev wrote:What do you guys think of negotiating more aid? How long after admission were you guys able to log in and see your financial aid? I don't have any log in info for aurora and I'm getting anxious....

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
just got 15k a year after being accepted in january. I asked a few weeks ago if they could throw some merit aid my way, and they did! I didn't really have much to negotiate with either, just that I had been accepted at a few other schools but I didnt mention scholly money at those schools yet b/c I hadnt yet received that info.

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
I sent them an email about a week ago about scholarship negotiation, and still haven't heard back? Has anyone else had this same experience? I'll probably have to call them in the next couple days if I don't hear from them since the deposit is due on the 15th.

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
Would anyone who has negotiated a scholarship mind sharing who they contacted/how they went about it? I didn't get any money and doubt I will, but I'd like to try anyways. My LSAT is above the 75th% but my GPA is below 25th%, so I won't hold my breath. I do have an $8.5K per year guaranteed scholarship from Northeastern I might try to use as leverage.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
I just sent them an email to the one they said was especially for admitted students. I told them I was accepted at BU and a few other places and placed on reserve at Cornell but that BC was my top choice. However, given my financial situation I could not attend without some grant aid.

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
What I think is funny is that BC expects people to actually consider making a seat deposit and/or attending without some kind of financial aid notice. I had all my documentation submitted in March before I even knew I was accepted, yet I haven't heard a peep except the admit video. I don't like being strung along.
Their loss.

Classes usually end around 4ish I believe. No night classes, at least not for first years.curly3426 wrote:anyone know what time first year classes run to usually... such an odd question... 9 to 6 or 9 to 5.. or are there night questions?

Re: Boston College Applicants Thread
This year at least, no required first year classes started before 8:40, nor have I see one run past 4 (or maybe it was 4:05). And, obviously, you're not going 8:40-4 every day (or even any day, necessarily)curly3426 wrote:anyone know what time first year classes run to usually... such an odd question... 9 to 6 or 9 to 5.. or are there night questions?
Upper level classes are more spread out: I think I saw one at 8, and there are definitely ones at 8:30 in the morning, and a scant few even run at night (I think there's some seminar that's once a week 5:30-7:20 or something, for example).
Quickly looking through the schedule of posted classes for next semester (which may still be tentative), it seems none of the 1L classes start before 9, nor run past 2:35, at least that I saw.

For those accepted, did merit scholarship offers come with the admit package, or separately at a later time?
Was accepted via email 4/1 and so ridiculously anxious to see if I get any $$. It would certainly make my decision much easier!

Merit offers don't come w/ the admit package, although who knows how they're doing it now, now that it's crunch time
