IR 12/21. Went IR the day after I received my status checker and crickets ever since. I applied for the Rothman and USC confirmed receipt. However, no move in the checker.

I think they are waiting for us to commit to other schools.
That could be it, seems dumb though. Perhaps they don't have the cash to compete with Wash U?

Maybe too many people took the offers last year and they over committed the funds. Maybe they want to roll it out in stages so they can gauge the commitment better. Maybe they don't want to offer money to highly qualified applicants who will surely receive offers from elsewhere.

UR is the safest way to keep people around. If you WL or send out "hold" email, people may withdraw. If you accept without offering money people will withdraw. So why do anything until you are ready to recruit? In the mean time some people will drop out because they are getting good offers from elsewhere.

It might have been like Duke, where they over-enrolled/over-committed funds (I know the first case is true of last year, don't know about the second) due to higher-than-expected yield. It seems that many schools are being cautious. People in the 11/22 group are almost certainly going to get accepted to higher ranked schools but, like me, may be open to going to USC if the COA can be brought down significantly, especially as it opens the Cali market to non-Cali people.... they're smart to be cautious, even if it's annoying for us.

IR since 1/26. I really just want a decision one way or the other...at the rate Michigan, UVa, and USC are going, I fear that I'll have a day to decide before first deposits are due

You'd consider USC over UT?

Maybe. I went to UT for my undergrad and I never really clicked there...but that's probably a result of my awkward personality

Base it on the $$ and where you ultimately want to end up living and practicing. USC > UT in Los Angeles makes perfect sense to me.

Who wouldn't...USC has just as good (if not better) of a national reputation.

But then there are people like me right in line with their statistics in the 11/22 group still sitting here waiting

Didn't most of the 11/22 group get Rothman invites? Maybe they're just waiting till they can give you guys the big money.
