Re: Columbia 2011!
Any suspicion why CLS might have requested your grades? Do you think it's because you're under the median?GraniteState wrote:I got a request for fall grades at the beginning of December (RD), sent in last week (email and official transcript), haven't gotten a confirmation yet. Good LSAT for Columbia, but GPA a little low. My fall grades improve my GPA, continue strong upward trend. What should I take away from this? Good sign?
When did you submit? Mind sharing numbers?

Re: Columbia 2011!
I can't see any pattern in the fall grades requests. Seems like folks are getting them from every where from below median to above 75th. I take it as a mildly good sign that they're at least interested in a given app.GraniteState wrote:My GPA is definitely under the median. Submitted my initial application in September, my own math tells me I have a Columbia index of 4.24 (rounded to 4.2 by LSAC). I have grades from three different schools (I only transferred once; took a couple college classes while in high school) and my degree GPA when I applied was a 3.71. Full GPA, though, was 3.52. Fall grades raise my full GPA to 3.57 (and my Columbia index from 4.2 to 4.3). Strong upward trend stretching most of my college career; essentially I got screwed by one semester in freshman year. This fall semester was my highest-scoring ever, and I've gotten nothing below an A- in each of my last twelve courses.padthai wrote:Any suspicion why CLS might have requested your grades? Anyway, 173 on the LSAT (only took it once), not URM, strong softs.
I know, my GPA is low and it's a reach, but I figure they don't ask for no reason. Columbia is my first choice--I'm just hoping I don't get a letter in April inviting me to a waiting list.

Does Columbia typically send scholly offers in the same letters as decisions, or do you have to wait till March/whatever for monies?dulcatis wrote:Last year, people started hearing back about three weeks from now! Eeep!

Also, do we know approx. what complete dates would be eligible for the first (late January) wave of acceptances?dulcatis wrote:Well for October applicants. Too lazy to look into September ones!thecilent wrote:3 weeks?? I thought it was sooner than that. Grr

Is CLS the kind of school where almost nobody gets in off the waitlist? I haven't gotten a response yet but still.

Sweet bajeezus.
I want to hear from Columbia SO BAD. I want to start apartment hunting damnit. Also, internet stalking cute people I know who moved to NYC and I can flirtatious ask to buy me a welcome to town drink.... Type A, we plan these things.
Yeeaaaah... scholly offers scholly shmoffers... I want to be inside you, C.
Seriously, you know we're meant to be together. Give me some first RD-wave sugar. I know I wasn't early with the september/october kids, but when it's right it's so right...

My undergrad FINALLY released updated grades today, and needless to say I went before business day's end to request my grades be sent to CLS... Luckily my new grades bumps me from just under median to just above median GPA!

Re: Columbia 2011!
Don't sweat the fall grades request. I received the same request when I applied last year, and was offered a spot the first week of January. Like all things admissions related, it's a mystery that nobody actually understands.
Also, for the people that asked about scholly offers. The big ones (Full and half tuition) come with your admissions letters. CLS grants come later. I didn't get my grant offer until a few weeks before the deadline to accept a spot.
EDIT: I looked back at my apps, and got my acceptance in mid/late January.

Re: Columbia 2011!
The grade requests may even just be an effective way to weed out folks who have gotten into to other schools they prefer and haven't yet withdrawn. I don't think anyone should be worried to get one.

I'm super scared of getting a request because I have no idea when the rest of my grades are gonna get in :/ probably not for a while...T6Hopeful wrote:My undergrad FINALLY released updated grades today, and needless to say I went before business day's end to request my grades be sent to CLS... Re: Columbia 2011!
I got a grade request today but the email said that my app was still "incomplete" because of it. Did you guys that got requests get that (that your app was incomplete until they get the grades)? Also, I graduated this past spring so LSAC had my final transcripts.
I'm just curious because it's not updated grades they want--they have them--but my transcript. And the "incomplete" part is freaking me out too.

Weird, mine didn't say anything about being incomplete, but I'm still in UG.Sinra wrote:I got a grade request today but the email said that my app was still "incomplete" because of it.
