They do call Vandy the "Harvard of the South," though. I think Duke gets the same nickname.

I've only ever heard Duke referred to as the "Harvard of the South."rad law wrote:So does Emory hahaforza wrote:Maybe. I'm not familiar with Harvard's campus.86revolt wrote:

Don't get me wrong here; if any school deserves the title, it is definitely not Vanderbilt or Emory.

From a really good episode of the Simpsons:
Stephen Colbert is playing Homer's life coach. They're talking on the phone, as Homer is trying to fly a plane.
SC-"I''m not very good. I went to the Harvard of the South."
Homer-"Duke? That's good."
SC-"Not Duke."
Homer-"Vanderbilt?"
SC-"A little further south. Don't make me say it [Referring to Emory]."

I think we could all agree that Vanderbilt is the Harvard of Nashville.

From a quick google search, no one actually says it refers to Emory?Hopefullawstudent wrote: SC-"A little further south. Don't make me say it [Referring to Emory]."

I'm a little confused now too. I distinctly remember watching this episode when it aired and thinking that it implied Emory. But of course maybe I interpreted the joke wrong? What other school could he be referring to? UT-Austin? I've never heard UT being referred to as the Harvard of the South.. But I did a quick search on Colbert's alma mater - it wasn't Emory.rad law wrote:From a quick google search, no one actually says it refers to Emory?Hopefullawstudent wrote: SC-"A little further south. Colbert went to Hampden-Sydney, which is really southern and bad ass, but not farther south than Vanderbilt. HmmmHopefullawstudent wrote:I'm a little confused now too. The "V" doorhandles are kind of a fun touch!
I'm hoping to visit in the next few weeks... but it's nice to see what it looks like in the middle of winter (I am not a fan of snow). Thanks so much for posting these

If this helps, I took these photos as I was jogging around campus in a t-shirt and running shorts. It was somewhere around 60 degrees outside - absolutely perfect.pearl_earrings wrote:+1pleasetryagain wrote:Thanks for the slide show Forza. Very nice. I'm in Boston. Unfortunately, the mail at my school is stopped for this week because we're on Spring Break. So, I won't know anything for at least a week.orangeandblue4127 wrote:DM 3/5. South American isn't an ethnic distinction, but it is, perhaps, and interesting soft. Good luck!lovethelaw88 wrote: You never know. I have a friend that got into BU Law with a 158, 3.4 who is South American.
